I have try'd your two different programming softwares. I still get an error message when reading radio or writing to radio. the PC comes up then error right after that. I am using a usb to serial from staples, installed the drivers for it. its on comport 3 and that is what i have it set to on the program software. I did order a kenwood two pin to usb but when i got it the cd was broken. the company is sending a new disk so when i get that in will see if that works. I do have some doubts about the usb cable working with the software. So if you or any one has any ideas let me know

Again, Thank you

Also have this radio
excellent quality and good functionality, and most importantly entourage....
(before that was a lot of radio, including amateur and expensive models)
We were pleased with the ability to change bands with help of computer (VHF or UHF).
Now the true test will come forward when the army connector to connect my original Bowman.

if anyone has a diagram of desoldering connector U-283
would be very grateful ......

I don't have a diagram, but if that can be helpful, see this post: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showpos...47&postcount=2

Each contact is identified by a letter, so it should be relatively easy to work with.

Conker, Isn't it the E and F pin that are not connected?

@chegevarko: You will have impedance issue with your RS Bowman if you do not change the Mic, read all the previous page and you'll notice I said this about 100 times. I tested it with my RS Comtac II.

Conker January 27th, 2011 11:36

Mine is desoldered right now as I'll be modding it a bit, so... can't check. Feel free to check yourself, but considering the functionnality of each connection, having the E pin not connected wouldn't make sense, so I'm 99% sure what I wrote is correct.

As for the Bowman, it depends on the PTT... if he's using a PTT like the TEA Universal (to name one, but there are other options), he shouldn't have any issues as these have the integrated impedence matching functionnality.

What is the chance he has the same PTT as us? those PTT sells for 1000$ on ebay lol. Unless he was a TCI like Brakoo.

Remember when we where looking together. We laughed because the pinout was making EF.. Our team.

question?
when connecting the original headset to radio via U-plug built-in speaker is turned off?
Thanks

Yannos January 27th, 2011 14:08

Haven't heard any problems with the U connector, but some people have problems if they connect the Kenwood type plug.

Conker January 27th, 2011 14:14

I'm using the Kenwood plug without any problem.

What are the differences betwee the first and the second batch of the radio?

Yannos January 30th, 2011 19:42

The Main difference is that the First batch had the U plug not wired correctly, now it is.

Dans la premiere batch la Plug de type U étais pas soudé correctement.. Mais dans la V2 elle est correct.

First of, excellent review! I've read this whole thread a couple of times, very informative.

I'm just double checking here, but EbairAirsoft (Ebaybanned) has the second version? I've mailed them, but got a reply that they don't know themself.
