Has anyone ever fit a ver.3 mechbox in a ver.2 gun?

I'm sitting here looking at an MP5k and an MP5 reciever (just pictures) and wondering how hard it would be to somehow rig an full sized MP5 to accept a ver.3 mechbox. Has anyone ever done this before? Even with an M4/16 or something. I have next to no gundoctor experience and havnt actually seen the inside of an MP5 before but am thinking that if the part of the reciever that holds the mechbox is the same size externally on an MP5 and an MP5k then why cant it be done? I know it would be one hell of a lot of work to modify it but is it possible at all?

I've been curious about that for a while too, considering some (all?) MP5k gear boxes are V3, yet full sized MP5s are V2. Be good to get some real info finally form someone who's tried.

Good question Japafinn!

it would be cool to have a gear box that would make the ambi selector switch actualy function on an m16/m4 type weapon

didnt someone say a while back that G&G was going to make V3 armalites?

The only difference I could spot different between the MP5K and the MP5SD6 when I was trying to scavenge Foxtails parts to put the MP5K he's got kicking around was the grip.

At the rear the pin goes through the handle mold instead of on the buttplate peice. Other than that they seemed very similar. But we didn't find enough peices to get started on puting it back together. I do however think that the barrel and hop up won't meet up on par with each other. Might be close. Again thats just from vissual inspection of both guns. Trying to find more of those parts to put that MP5K back together... may just try sticking one of my V.2's in and see.

Thats exactly the problem I was thinking may happen because a ver.2 is taller than a ver.3. If no one says this is an outright stupid idea before I get some more money, I'm getting a TM MP5k and a TM MP5A4 and attempting this (TM plastic bodies easier to dremel than any kind of metal.) Bring my 11 years of model making experience to airsoft. If it doesnt work at all...at least the MP5k will be untouched and sellable, part out the MP5A4 if necessary (Stalker, need any more parts? )

Droc, never heard that before but if its true I may put off getting that full sized M16 I wanted.
