A&K (Echo-1) 249 Mk2 SAW - Local Thoughts/Opinions?

A&K (Echo-1) 249 Mk2 SAW - Opinions?

In keeping with my Canadian load out I've decided to go forth & pick up my very own SAW in the near future. (I have a forth Elcan sitting in my lock up & nothing to put it on, so why not a 249?)

I've done some reading on the other variations, CA, TOP, STAR, etc, & have decided on A&K. Why A&K? Well, since I have nothing but praise for my current AEGs, being exclusively Jing Gong, & both of which have stood up to my rigors & abuse of gaming, I've decided to keep it in the family. I figure that any aeg that shoots a consistant 380/390 fps out of the box why not stay with it? I have no complaints with them at all.

Has anyone, locally, had any dealing with the A&K 249? (Based of the CA 249, with improved bushing & shimming, reported to fire 360/380 fps out the box.)

Thoughts, opinions
?

007 has quoted me 800 all in for one a couple weeks back, recommend check there as well

I held one and it disgusted me, it's lighter than a CA249, and upon touching it the metal actually feels as crappy as it is lol
The internals are the same as CA249, so making it into a high performance LMG is no problem, but all the weakness problems of both the STAR and CA249s are going to show up, the front sight will be weak, the cocking handle may break, cant use the carrying handle and the bipod is going to break. I believe someone who owns one already broke their bipod...
Anyway if it's all you can afford and you take good care of your guns in the field, it should be fine for you. If your more rough and tough with a deep wallet, I've tripped on barbed wire while running and landed with all my bodyweight on my G&P 249 with the box mag in it, and the box mag didn't even break. Not to mention once you shim the gears it's got really durable stock internals.

Well I went ahead and purchased the last one A&A has..$911.61 with shippin and taxes..Wasn't the para settled for the 249 MK2..will let you know

Played with one at a store in HK.
They cost less then $100 Canadian in Hong Kong street price- the one I toyed around with was $750 HKD (about the best exchange rate you can get is 7.83 to 1). It was fairly light but it shot hard and fairly accurately, and was generally fairly well made for the price. Still, I haven't played with very many Airsoft M249s, so I couldn't say.

I got the MK2 also, just becareful, I broke the bipod mount 5 minutes after I got it out of the box, and don't believe the insturctions, you can't fit a large battery in, the 8.4 3600 pack I have is too wide to even go into the butt. And when the box mag is set to sound activated, it can't keep up, I was told by one of our team gun doctors to re-wire it to a 9v instead of the 2 AA it takes.

On a retailer site (don'T remember) they said the A&K model got problem with the box mag and ship them with a M16 Hi-cap with/or the box mag for now. When the new lot of box mag be ready they will send them out to buyers....

You can't have the quality without paying the price !
