If you're going to paint it... don't use "silver" paint but rather "chrome" paint.
Plasticote makes some.
And then if you're a fag (no offence BC_K) and like anodized stuff on your import cars, you can spray over the chrome with plasticote's "Anodize it" paint and keppit under the seat or in the glove box to match the parts on your car... That would be wicked cool yo! lol
