I've had a bit of problem removing mine sometimes. There's not much grip on the collar. If you have some kind of pin/peg you can fit in the holes (i've used small screwdrivers held together with a vise-grip) you can use that to get a bit more torque to turn it.
If it's really been overtightened, you can try sticking it into the freezer for about half an hour. Works fine with metal, but if you have a plastic receiver be extra careful.
