RC shops have the tool for $20-25, the one I had needed to be ground open in order to fit onto the motor, and worked but eventually broke. I bought the one from Jugglez, kinda neat yet a bit fiddly, but it works well. Just to buy to use once, not worth it, but if you can get someone to pull and has a replacement, you can easily pay for shipping both ways if needed and will be cheaper than even just buying the tool! I think I have a couple used motor gears I took off dead motors before tossing out.
