If you solder a solder joint on a connector cup and they both touch the signal will short

Trust me i know cause when i tear down equipment and remove wiring touching the positive to the negative say on a time code signal will cause it to short out... Causing failure..

experiment this... cut off the connector to your battery and join the positive and negatives together..
