That's actually a really good idea. It's feasible to buy a new gun if you were going to play in the states. Pretty sad when you compare it to the absolutely retarded prices we have to pay here.

With the cost of guns you could if you have the cash buy one, and maybe have WC store it for you. Now your free to play anytime you want in the US, and depending on the event.

Whats the advantage of Canada taxing you guys when you legally import an item besides getting money and why do they have to tax you on more than twice what the items worth?

I was a sponsor of Irene this year and I got to know John Lu quite well. I suggested to John several months back that we collaborate on an event together up here in the Northeast US, an area where he had not yet held a big event.

Our group in Western NY is one of the largest in the US. We have a good rapport with the NY National Guard, who attends most of our monthly ops, usually bringing Humvee's for use in our games, and once even flying in a Huey chopper. The Guard has an 860-acre base near Niagara Falls, which, so far, it looks like they are going to let us use as the site for a large event this year.

It looks like John Lu will be moving Operation: Northern Wind to Buffalo this year to this site. The beauty of this, for all you Canadians is, that because this is a State base, rather than a Federal base, there may not be restrictions on citizenship. Thus, you all may be able to come down and play in one of our huge games.

Expected attendance should be 600-1000 players, making it the largest airsoft game ever in the US. So far, we're trying to plan this for sometime in August 2008. There's a lot of time between now and then, and much planning remains to be done. I will keep you all posted as I find out information. I think it would be great to have a bunch of you guys come over and join us.
I just found out from the National Guard that they will be allowing non-US nationals (i.e. Canadians) to come to the Northern Wind V game being planned for the Buffalo area later this year.

Very cool! I'll keep you guys posted as I find out more. I know John Lu is going to fly in sometime in March for us to have a big meeting, so much more will be known after that.

As most of you have probably never attended a John Lu event, here's a link to the rules used at Irene and Northern Wind:

...here are the rules that were used at Irene:
http://www.oplionclaws.com/irene07/irene-rules.php

...and these are the rules for Northern Wind:
http://www.oplionclaws.com/nw2007/nw-rules.php

These may or may not be what gets used at this event, but John Lu's games are pretty standardized by now, so we're likely to see something close to one of them.

You don't have to pay import taxes and duties on stuff you import from overseas? I highly doubt that. I never have on the airsoft parts and accessories I've ordered from outside Canada, but I think I'm lucky.
