This occurred recently. Every time I fire, on either semi or auto, it sounds as if the gun is going to have a heartattack. By that I mean there is a high pitched whine whenever the motor is in action. I've tried different batteries, taking it apart, lubing it, etc. Nothing appears to be damaged and yet it sounds like it. I've tried realigning the motor as well to no avail.
While the performance doesn't seem to be affected, the noise is driving me nuts. Does anyone else's ICS MP5 make this sound? |

Check to see if the teeth on the motor's gear is wore out
What you can do is to try another motor, and make sure you adjust the screw at the bottom of the pistol grip accordingly. Also, check to see if the gears in the gearbox are overshimmed or not. |

I think the first thing you should try is to take a hex screw and tighten up the motor adjustment screw A BIT AT A TIME, until that ugly noise is gone

man im getting the same problem with my new ICS mp5. Its really beginning to tick me off. I am gonna bring it in to the local doc and see what he thinks. But mine makes the same noise and I am freaking out cuz its just making this nasty buzzing noise like all hell is gonna break loose if I pull the trigger again.

I think it's the shitty motors they use at ics.
They simply sound like crap when compared to an eg motor. I plan on using an eg700 in the future. I've been told the pinion gear on the motor will have to be swapped to fit the gears propperly so I haven't bothered yet but I'm not sure if that's a fact or just talk. If anyone knows for a fact it'd be helpfull. If you can use an eg700 as is I'd suggest just doing that and it should be fine. mp5-freak let us know what the gun doc says when you take it to em. |

ICS problem
It is the shape of the ICS pinion gear that causes the strange noise.
You can get rid of the noise by replacing the pinion gear with a non-ICS one, or by entirely removing the layer of plastic that sits between the mechbox and the motor (no worry, you don;t really need to use screws to affix the mechbox to the lower receiver) .

Could it not also be an overshim job... has the mechbox been opened by you or anyone else?

Buy and install an EG 1000 and tune for minimum noise.

This is really me!

Screw the set screw in about 2-3 turns to see if it corrects the problem. If it does, adjust the screw's height till the motor noise is minimal.

ICS are all around great guns EXCEPT for their motors. It's something they decide to cheap out or not care much about the quality for that matter. Just swap it out for a TM motor.
Take out the ICS motor and sometime you'll find, shorted coils, low to no torque at all (plug to a battery and let it free spin), coil rubbing the magnet body (you can't even turn the motor by hand). I've sawpped out many and all their pinion gears are in perfect shape. It's all the internal of the motor that's screwed up right out of the factory. |

Yeah I was missed going to the doc but I think it might be the bevel and pinion gear like illusion said. Anybody know how much it would cost me to get these replaced or fixed?

what about motors that you can find at hobby shops i took my gun to a local hobby shop and he said that a brushless motor would probably be a good choice and said that i could find one to fit my gun he said that with a brushless motor you get way more torque

Ever hear other airsoft guns? Specifically, other ICS guns? Perhaps you're just hearing the normal whirs.

Just grab a new EG 700 or 1000 and swap the pinion gear over. Not too hard at all.
Cheers, Brent
