No, patt, they are not using the PRC 521 set (LAR). Trust me... it's the PRR. Two different systems. The 521 is a Canadian product made under the TCCCS system, and the Marconi PRR is a product of the Clansman/Bowman system of the Brits.
The PRR is issued to each soldier in a section, whereas the 521 set is normally only issued on the basis of one or two max per section/patrol. |

Maybe a mod could split this post into a discussion on the comms equipment, while leaving the original thread for cadapt discussions?

Patt, I am not surprised your military friends said it was a LAR, as the PRR is a very recently (less than 1 year) acquisition, and as far as I know, 3RCR battlegroup is the first Canadian unit that has deployed with the system. Most people in the military have not used them before (including me). I had seen them in use with the Brits in Sierra Leone and Kabul, but I had to ask my friend with the battlegroup to confirm that it is the same radio as the Brits.
Good idea Morb, or a mod can just delete the comms messages. I think we've pretty much figured out what radio it is. |

You can't, unless you're certified to produce cadpat materials by DND.

So can I, but I sure a heck don't give one! Better than trying to match up Jungle Stalker with CADPAT.

Someone asked about using viniger when washing your cadpat.
As far as I know this does help prevent the color form washing out, but you still need to use cold water and mild detergent. I belive it is one or two tablespoons of viniger per load. Also don't wash your stuff so much! |
