I'll be getting a Puxing shortly, IMHO it's a better value as a radio. I'll sort something out so it would still look like an MBITR.

So.... I had a look at the TW whip antenna:

Is it me, or does it look like an SMA plug? If that's the case, it could be installed and actually works on the Puxing, instead of just having it as a dummy.

Also, if anywone has comments on this antenna's build quality, feel free to share!

It's not SMA, it's TNC. Same as the real antenna has. Which is why they're having it so that you can use the real one on it.

I can't take any pictures of my antennas now because my charger for my camera is packed in a box ready for moving next month so it've to wait.

Gen 4 is almost there. Gen 4 will work with military headset without modifcation to the mic, steel connection bolt.

Ok, as someone who has bought one of these fine radios, i feel the right to say the following:

Where on earth is the programming cable???

i have tried to contact these guys directly and _NO_ answer to my question has been forthcoming..

Huang, it's been a few months now, has everyone in the factory who makes the programming cable died or something?

IF there was never going to be a cable then it should have been said as such, i do get the feeling that we've been 'strung along' and i personally would like an answer..

I also wish to declare in public that i intend to buy another radio set (with all the gubbins) if the programming cable ever sees the light of day.

On the old website i stuck up for you guys when others were throwing out what i would say were unreasonable expectations.. and then _You_ stated that a programming cable would become available. while i cannot find the exact post in your new website, i do know that you stated this before the 1st of febuary..

I really want to set this up correctly, i want to try and push your radio to the rest of my team (8 strong including me) but everyone wants the programming cable so that we can phase the radios in, as not everyone can afford a radio now and some people will not run the risk of operating out of PMR Frequencies.

asside from that: Wey Ferro, cheers mate for putting up the pictures when you did, it pushed me over the edge to buy this bit of kit.. apart from the programming cable 'problem' it has been quite a nice purchase!

Also, huang, is there any chance of buying just the comtac for the radio i already have? let me know how much..

Also, a big thanks to ILLusion for helping a brain-dead fool get his account working (me)

wey ferro April 6th, 2010 08:38

plus the "mil" wired ones weren't anything close to mil wired.

haung. call your boy and get some flippin answers. this is bullshit.

doc_pathfinders April 6th, 2010 13:50

wey, what do you mean by 'mil wiring?

wey ferro April 6th, 2010 15:08

i got the one with the u-183 connector and they said it was wired for mil headsets. i tried a few different ones and it wasnt. i re wired it inside the radio

doc_pathfinders April 6th, 2010 15:25

ahh, yep.. got you..

i went for the 'vanilla' as i didn't have any comms that could use that connector..

apart from a large number of old clansman headsets from when i used the old british army kit (would have stuck with that but it wasn't exactly on the correct side of the law) but i wouldn't have paid the extra money just in the hope that i could have used a mankey old headset!

anyway, i just hope that we get this cable..

jurgen975 April 11th, 2010 05:02

Huang,

So when is the gen 4 ready it would be nice take one to berget

doc_pathfinders April 11th, 2010 05:24

it would be nice when gen 4 and when the programming cable for the 3rd gen is coming out
Hint, Hint...

come on huang, i've been reading about how you stand by what you sell..

EDIT:
to quote from the dragonred website, under features that would need a programming cable, and i believe i'm not unreasonable in my request.

# Software upgradable
# Support image transfer in the future by sofware upgrade

wey ferro April 11th, 2010 11:23

hahaha. i got mine working with some linton radios good so im not too worried about this anymore.

doc_pathfinders April 12th, 2010 02:33

wey, heck yes i could get these going if i just went out and bought a couple of other (non PMR) radio's.. but i'm trying to get my entire team to move over and they have this backward mentality, they want them to work with european freq's now until everyone can equip, then they won't care.. (Take a leaf of faith FFS!)

i may just chalk this up to experience and buy a few radio's to distribute to the team.. it would be alot cheaper then buying two PRC's anyway..

i guess huang looses out by default, shame as it's a nice bit of kit..

as a back note, my team isn't the best on COMSEC and is running a bunch of radio's that they haven't taken the time to truly understand. So regulaly switching freq's is painful to say the least.
