I saw it in the field last weekend. The field was a mix of desert sand and forest. Atac blended well in the forest and OK in the sand.

Link added. That's what happen when you do so many tasks at once.

It's the communications flap. They're meant to store the cables for any communication systems that may be associated with the helmet.

You'll notice it actually has a pocket type thing going on.

There's actually slots in the back of the helmet where you can feed webbing through for the express purpose of acting as goggle retention.

OD for me too, just looks better to me. Just gotta see if they'll do 4" tapes or if they have them precut at 5"

Yeah, I kinda figured that would be the case. Easy enough to cut the ends to fit my admin panel.
