That isn't illegal, i bought an yugo SKS for $250 and it was registered to my dad. It doesnt mean i go to the range by myself and start fireing, i always have to be there with my father and i dont even know the code to our safe.

Greylocks December 24th, 2006 12:02

Mtallman said HE stored it. You CANT do that legally. It MUST be stored by the person to whom it is registered.
If you store it, you wind up being in control of it and that IS illegal.
Please clarify what you mean then.

And this thread has gone so far off topic it's now worthless, can it be trashed now?

It may be the way he wrote it, but HE cant store them. That becomes possession in the legal sense.

I think a mod should split this thread were the legal talk started >_>. Anyways I do believe that it's okay for someone under 18 (in Calgary at least) to own their own airsoft gun, the same is with air rifles / pistols. I own and store my own air rifle and pistol's I have one crosman semi-auto gas air rifle and two crosman air pistols (one is semi and one is pump). So I do believe that someone under 18 in Calgary can own their own gun, but not buy them.

No, because Federal laws apply everywhere. You cant own one, and you cant store it either if you are under 18. If you store it, you are in legal possession of it.

They are seen as Replicas. Read the laws about those or save yourself the effort.

Must be 18 to own, that includes physical control (storage and use) of it.

If you are over 18 and letting someone under 18 use it, you must be there.

Guys, read the darned FAQ.

Greylocks is 100% correct on these, sorry NumberSeven & Xero

Again, we are just enforcing the laws, but we don't make these laws. ;)

Well I can see that people are quite ... devoted to the fact that they can't risk even the most responsible of us to have a simple (Spring shottie in my case) Airsoft gun. Well If I wait till I am 18 then get one will you all stop buggin me! lol I'm just kiddng; I totally understand but I suppose I have just waited so long to get one since i wanted one that I guess I got a bit desperate. Waiting may be the best thing for all. But all in all I HAVE read the FAQ so I understand any risks.

That's like saying let a 14 yr old get their driver license just because he/she's mature. Or buy smokes and booze for a 16 yrs old because he/she is mature. Similar analogy.

If you can't even follow rules and wait, then would that really make you mature?

The laws dont give a damn about how mature you are. The cutoff age is 18, just like voting, when you become Legally Responsible for yourself.

So how about you show the MATURITY you claim to have and respect those laws?

You live in Ottawa? Nice of you to tell everyone how you feel. You do know that pretty much the only places you can play in Ottawa require 18+, and to make your day even more special... there are at least 3 age-verifiers in the region? One of whom OWNS the Foxden game site?
You just shot off your mouth to the wrong crowd. Use your maturity to wait three years.

HELLO I just said I would wait I figured you all really would shut up!
Just because I have to wait doesn't mean I'm gonna die. And your analogy has a bit of cracks in its truth. But that doesn't matter right now.

Do you really think this is good for this forum. You are a good exemple of what i said. It's not becose your over 18yo that it make you mature.

I really think that a moderator should lock this thread now. It's just polluting ASC.

Thank you all.

Jixton

PS Number 7, I'm glad you read and understand the FAQ. You will be more than welcome when you reach 18yo. Be patient.
