Sorry 'bout that, I'll get right

That was a dry joke lol.

Someone doesn't like my gun,
that's fine. Just doing my part to
feed the gun geeks their sexy pics.

I wasn't a fan of the GSR early on
either but, as you get on in gun geek
years you fall in and out of love with
many models. I'm tired of the usual
builds so this one appealed to me.

ujiro November 25th, 2009 12:43

I enjoyed the joke Steve :P.

More so, I enjoyed the gun. That is one of the most beautiful 1911's I've ever seen. It is extremely unique. The GSR really is sexy to me. I like the dual tone, although I might like it a bit better if the slide was black as well. But very very beautiful.

:) I feel the love...

I have 2 slides, the black one is
the match to the frame. I had a
spare black one I got in a trade
years ago, so I polished it for
pain and suffering, I like that.

Oh hot damn that is absolutely stunning! Your builds are always the best..
I definitely prefer with that black slide, but the polished is still great.

That must've been an arduous task, polishing that down to that finish... You did an amazing job at it.

Correct. And just a heads up for anyone interested in eventually buying one, the gun is incredibly solid, beautiful trades, and has a nice finish. However, there is quite a bit of play with the outer barrel, but thats and easy fix. As well, the stock mags are complete shit, and field stripping it is a pain (slide lock is finicky).

That's.....interesting? GI controls and slide on a 2011 chassis....

Thenooblord December 11th, 2009 22:29

Well I like the look of the original 1911, but I hate the fact that when you start doing upgrades like metal slides, upgraded spring sets, and other gas consuming mods like high flow valves, you cant get a full mag off easily, so I opted to get a similar look, but with the double stack mags instead :D

The only thing that I couldn't get converted over was the slide catch.

RacingManiac December 15th, 2009 13:12

Yeah surprisingly they are quite different on the stock TM....I can sorta swap them with Nova and ProG4 parts.

I have a bunch on the way, with accurate markings, accurate serration style/location and it's a complete set with a V12 bull barrel... again, with accurate markings on the chamber.

The Shooters Design parts has several flaws with it that are not accurate to the real thing, and all of the parts are difficult to get a hold of. All of these issues spurred me to do a production run of this set, complete with the benefits of IK products.

Hit me by PM for more details.

I said the same thing a few pages ago and was chastized for it.
Let your SIGs be SIGs, and your 1911s be 1911s, and stop mixing the two.

safx December 22nd, 2009 21:07

yah you said it to me Tex,
thats the joke I'm pulling!

lol.

Colt 1911s spawned new
slide designs on their frames
for decades ie Wilson's. It's
gun evolution, plastic lowers
are crap, long live the single
stack 1911s

I'm right with ya there... I can get behind a Para-Ordnance steel frame double-stack, but plastic is for Glocks/H&K etc. etc ...
Is the SIGiness on the GSR slide for functional reasons, or is it just to identify that particular 1911 as a SIG product, like design cues on a BMW or whatnot?

RacingManiac December 23rd, 2009 09:02

part of it is that, part of it I believe the "SIG" shape is lighter, as I read on some gun mag. I am sure more of it is just brand identity though....Aside from SIG I think only S&W Performance Center 1911 looks more different than the traditional 1911 shape.

SIG I believe also uses external extractor, which is more of a carry over from their other pistol.

How can you tell the difference between a steel barrel and the aluminum one? Do steel ones only come in the bull barrel style?

RacingManiac January 8th, 2010 21:51

Not that I can tell or not, Nova kits comes with aluminum one, but I fitted SD steel ones to mine.....I like the extra weight...lol

This is might be the wrong thread to ask...but is there a lot of room between your hop up chamber + inner barrel and the outer barrel?
