pistols are great for crawling around corners with to give yourself a chance to get the shot off before a aeg could, also lets say your playing milsim and you need to go back to the ammo dump for more ammo for the aeg its kinda helpfull to have soemthing to fire off incase your being shot at. Pistols arent heavy and they can come out quickly ready to go. also if your in the minimum engagement area they could be the choice. back to thread, the tm mk23 as said before looks promising and why not buy it new, since you see that it doesn't lose its value then if you dont like it sell it.

Is it possible to add a silencer to the MK1

Between the MK23 and MK1 whats a better pistol...

ujiro March 29th, 2010 03:48

MK23 by 10000x.

shiftline March 29th, 2010 03:58

haha its really that good?

I was watching you tube videos trying to see how quiet the mk23 really was silenced but its still kind of hard to tell when they compare it to other guns.. Is it feasible to carry around a silencer and screw it on when someone is close.. or do you have a nice loooong holster for it? It does look like a sweet gun, just need to mod the lam to use an actual light and laser :)

It is really that good :P. I used to have one. It is ridiculously quiet. Seriously. It is the quietest airsoft gun out there imo. I screwed it on while people were close.. Theres holsters made specifically for the MK23 (I had one made by Milspex). It had a pouch for the silencer, so it was perfect.

But even without the silencer it was still way quieter than 95% of other airsoft guns.

Easy mods. Theres tons of space inside the LAM.

Awesome sounds good, hopefully will have one soon.. Does the silencer make a "big difference" or mainly diffuse the pop? is there any type of replacement inner material to make it quieter? It would be a nice sidearm to pick of enemies in close coders without giving away your cover. (main goal!)

I think the MK1 shoots a little hot too, especially for a sidearm.

I would assume it does due to most of the noise from the gun coming out of the barrel, you can just use a cheap holster if you want 1 of the Swiss arms from army surplus and the silencer will just poke out the bottom slightly- I have 1 from awhile back and I know the bottom has enough room to fit a silencer through it comfortably. I am not sure about screwing a silencer on when you need it, you need 2 hands for that- could take time that you dont have assuming you drew your sidearm due to being out of ammo or in need of killing somone silently quickly.

The MK1 has some pretty good reviews and its super cheap! 100$ Now the main problem is it doent have silencer threads so some custom work would have to be done there.. but I wonder if it would be quiet with a diy silencer or a foam filled one and some type of custom thread adapter...

TM MK23 case closed
silent and accurate and effective.

the mk1 is cool but the fps is quite high and mag release is odd.

Steven March 30th, 2010 01:13

The Mk1 can get close to 400 fps ive heard around, since a few here at Op-for have them. Thats WAY too high for any sidearm.

Besides, the Mk23 socom wins hands down. Soooo silent, ive heard it in person. You literally cant hear it from around 5-10 feet away. Only downside, a long trigger pull. But this can be partially remedied by pulling the hammer back first.

shiftline March 30th, 2010 01:26

haha MK23 has a huge fan base here!

Im not really worried about the fps since it will be more long range not so much close combat.. more for picking of a group when not to give away cover otherwise ill stick to aeg.. but for 2.5 times the price still mk23? It isss a sexy gun.. so far those two have been the best options i have found more nbbs but not much within canada..

Steven March 30th, 2010 01:29

Long range? Thats what an AEG is for, sidearms are for CQC.

That's like saying your driving to your neighbors, and walking 15km downtown.

Mk23, you wont be dissapointed.

jareyes March 30th, 2010 01:32

I know it's been said a billion times, but I'll personally vouch for the Mk. 23 too. It's just too great to be passed up as a NBB gun, I can't think of anything else that surpasses it in terms of its quietness. I'd say if you're really gunnin for stealth, dish out the extra money and get a solid, silent performer aka the Mk. 23.

Also, to further answer your question about the usefulness of the silencer, it does make a difference. Not a whole lot, but mostly the difference is that without the silencer, it sounds like a fairly high-pitched popping nose, kind of like when you're popping the top of a metal bottle cap but louder. With the silencer on, it's the same sort of sound but minus the really high pitches, making it harder to hear (lower pitch sounds are harder to perceive over distance than higher pitch sounds).

shiftline March 30th, 2010 01:34

haha well it sounds like it most likely will be mk23

Prime situation, I took out a few guys and was crawling towards the flag, saw 2 guys about 60-80' away but didnt want to use aeg incase i missed one then my cover would be blown (not worth the risk when 20' from the flag) so i let them pass then carried closer.. ) how ever with a long range silent gun if i could pick them off without giving up my cover it would be prime! aka why 400 fps isnt a big deal if they are 60-80' away
