Sites claim that this is what adjusts the hop up. But I don't have this piece. The black adjustment piece with female threads is what puts pressure on the metal ball bearing. not this thing. Am I missing an essential component to this gun?

That may be why you've got such awful accuracy and distance... and maybe why the RA-tech barrel wasn't working.

I am missing that. I don't think that would make a difference with the precision barrel not working. I contacted ra-tech and shipped the barrel back to them. They are sending me a "new type" that should fix my issue. I don't know why these magical "new types" aren't available to purchase on their website yet. Maybe they'll just spray paint the same barrel yellow and mail it back to me. lol.
