I've had a Magpul PTS Masada since late January, and to be honest, I've experienced NONE of the issues listed here. In fact, I've had the exact opposite experience with mine; shot beautifully right out of the box, has an excellent, quality finish on it, no mechbox issues at all. I'm incredibly impressed with mine, and all I've had to do to it is change the spring.
Compared to my VFC SCAR-L (which I absolutely love), the Masada is quieter, a bit lighter and feels better in my hands.

Just goes to show that even with the higher end guns there can still be 'good' ones and 'bad' ones.

Yeah that's the thing about Ares guns, the QC can be really hit or miss.

why did you change the spring? have you opened the gear box at all?
you may want to check the inside of the gearbox for filings, and also check your cylinder for scratches. have you looked at the gears, specifically the spur gear? is it flat and true or is it wobbly?

i would love to get another ACR and compare the parts, cause i really have a hard time believing that PTS would have such bad QC.

Wrong section to ask. Belongs in Doctor's corner.

I changed the spring to up the velocity in preparation for Pine Plains. We've checked the gearbox, and everything is rock solid; no cylinder scratches, all gears are solid, no filings anywhere...
