That becasue you need fans on your goggle if you are wearing glasses under it!

(Fogtech is a good addition too... ;))

I play paintball, if you wear a mask, they're only set for 340 FPS, so if you go to an airsoft field pinging 400-500, say good by to those eyeballs of yours, unless you buy one and stress test it. To my knowledge, it's a bad Idea, but I could be wrong.

To an addition to what Gunny said, you can buy special fog proof wax, there's a guy on youtube named Dre_Wolf, or something of the sorts, he has guide on that stuff, there are masks that have fans as well. Most masks aren't aqua proof, so if you sweat, it'll get all over your goggles, which can severely disorient your sight, especially if you're hopped into a building and being supressed, you'll sweat like a pig.

In my opinion (which is what I'm about to do seeing that I'm fresh to the sport) just get a pair o'these: http://www.armyissue.com/store/index...c-goggles.html

340fps with a .68" projectile...

Airsoft might be shooting 400fps, but the projectiles are 6mm and weigh only .12g to .40g...

Simple Newtonian physics dude, and you can conclude that Paintball approved lenses are 100% safe for airsoft use...

PS: i dont recommend ESS goggles if you are wearing glasses, AND if you are asian (asian faces are flatter + wider = you'll need to purchase the "ESS asian face" lens, or else you'll find the goggles really uncomfy!

anyone have a recommendation for a mask that is both paintball field approved and also low profile enough to be worn under a helmet, and allow for a decent cheek weld to use iron sights or at the very least allow someone to look through the scope without a riser?

Here's one from Canadian Tire made by JT for $39. It is airsoft specific and allows cheeking to your stock but it may not be allowed on a paintball field because it does not have the full side protection. What is nice about this mask is the area in front of the mouth is solid, whereas in a paintball mask it has vents that can allow a bb to pass through making is not as safe as this one since it is airsoft specific (point this feature out to your paintball field). I have see videos on this one and it fair well against a paintball mask. The lenses have the same impact certification as a paintball mask. It also looks like it could be worn under a helmet but you need to verify.

All the paintball masks I have tried do not allow cheeking to the stock so a riser will be needed for your optics.

Just found this video that showed airsoft testing on paintball masks.
