Didn't realized that till I scrolled down :\ thanks. Well... tell that to the people who is bidding.

You'd be surprised at how little people are willing to read with ebay auctions, even when their money is on the line.

There was once a guy on ASC who created an ebay auction that clearly stated the auction was for an airsoft gun BOX.

As in... the packaging for the gun. It was stated in the title, AND in the body of the post, AND the gun was never shown in any of the photos. Just the box. AND the body of the auction even stated "this is for ONLY the box."

Some idiot actually won the bid and ended up paying $150.... for an empty box.

When Element says "coming soon" how long can we expect a release?
By the way thanks Conker for finding out that info on the resin mantas.

For that price, I rather just bid on a real one.

I remember that scam was HUGE when Motorola Razr came out.. HUGE! There were probably 3 times more fake ads then real ones..

Damn Awesome stuff!! Ill post mine when it comes in

ILLusion December 29th, 2011 14:03

I got my china clone SF helmet light so that I could extract the mounts, and in the process of doing so, I'd misplaced all of the mounts and screws in this junk pile of a workshop I have.

I searched for half a day, to no avail. I'm standing here scratching my head and aggravated. What a waste of $30. LOL.

nice! where'd you get it in black? my understanding was that the black one only came with white/blue/IR lights, but I'm looking for it to have white/red/IR...

also, I'm a little confused while reading Surefire's description. it says "semi-permanent" mount that you screw in? does that I mean I have to mod my helmet? if someone has pictures of it with their CF helmet that'd be great!

Huang's site has them - currently out of stock - I guess i got the last two of them (one was busted in the package  ) They are chinese made Surefire clones.

As such, they have no IR capability. The 'blue IR lights' are replaced with the red LED's, that you see in the photo. Both the red and white LED's operate (separately, either red or white, not both) on a 3 stage sequential brightness switch. There is also a separate "IFF" red light on it's own switch, that dimly pulses on and off on the side of the unit.. kinda useless. I bought it with airsoft and mountain-biking purely in mind - the red lights will suffice to take the place of consuming red glow-sticks, when i need to indicate "i'm dead" in night games.

The link given by Kokanee earlier in the thread gives a good run-down on what needs to be done to set them up for the FAST helmet. The Surefire clone is definitely quick removable from the helmet rail without need for screws or tools. The Surefire clones also came with additional mounts that look like they'd adapt fine to non-railed helmets like the PAGST and MICH series helmets - it'd definitely work fine with my PAGST 'costume' helmet replica, with the mounts that were provided.

The IR LED is not necessarily among the bank of 5 forward facing LED's.

All models have a single small IR LED on the side, which act as an IFF device. The one I got from Element has a functioning IR IFF LED, so I would be surprised if Huang's doesn't have one functioning. This blinking IFF IR LED does emit a dim red light, and you can tell whether it's functioning or not without NODs that way. The real thing I have does the exact same thing.

The forward facing LED's are made of of 3x White/Yellow-Green, and 2x Red/Blue/IR LED's - the colour is dependent on the model you get.

Most of the clones I've seen only have the 3x White & 2x Red/Blue combination.

HL1-A: 3x White, 2x Blue
HL1-B: 3x White, 2x IR
HL1-C: 3x White, 2x Red
HL1-D: 3x Yellow-Green, 2x IR

I've seen a similar coding nomenclature for the real thing.

I ended up snagging a real HL1-A off ebay for $60 shipped. Brand new.

No mods req'd, no damage to the helmet, it just uses a two screws to cinch a clamp tight against the rim.
