Thanks to my firefly hop rubber, I got into my top choice for university!
I met a beautiful wife who cooks and cleans for me, I got an amazing high paying job, and I became far happier with my life!
I can honestly say I'm a different person after switching to firefly!

I've heard that for 350 fps it is ideal to use a soft hop-up bucking but for higher FPS such as 400 it's better to use a hard one. What is your opinion on this? And do you find it's best to match the hardness of the bucking and the nub or sometimes mix and match?

Stealthee December 6th, 2011 21:45

I wanna add to that, what FPS range is good for the extra soft hop-ups?

I follow the recommendations.

I was under the impression that soft buckings worked best up to ~400 FPS while hard buckings were for ~390+ setups (there is some overlap obviously it's not like it's a totally discrete difference between 399 FPS and 400 FPS).

I've always stuck to:

<300fps: Extra Soft
300-350fps: Soft
>350fps: Hard

But you're right, there is some overlap, and the rules are not completely defined and set in stone. You can definitely use a Soft rubber at 400fps as well, but you'll just have to turn the hop up a bit higher to get it to engage.

I thought there was a medium grade as well?

ILLusion December 7th, 2011 00:28

There may be... I'm just not aware of it. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, though

Kozzie December 7th, 2011 01:14

Firefly has a medium nub available but thats all the medium I've come across so far.

ILLusion December 7th, 2011 01:25

Yeah, they do. I actually have one in stock. I've just never seen a medium rubber itself. Only extra soft, soft, and hard.

After browsing around on the forums a lot of people seem to believe the Mad Bull 60 Degree Shark Bucking Hop-Up set is one of the best.
