I don't have a TM Gearbox to compare it to, but from what I've heard, JP made slight changes to 'modernize' it with more easily found parts. That compatibility chart is in my original review.

However, there is this you can look at. Pictures, info and everything. However, keep in mind it is an earlier model, so the JP/CYMA may be different.

Sorry. :\

Thanks! It was my first big review, so I'm not sure how I really did.

Not true... I've handled the TM Famas.... and IMO, worst airsoft gun I've ever handled..... (in that price range... not talking about crappy softair guns (Crosman, Both Elephant...)

When you pick it up, it feels like its going to fall apart, everything wobbles and makes a horrible squeaking noise... (Had same problem with the TM aug...) -_-"

The TM creaked because it was plastic on plastic. A little well placed tape and it didn't creak at all. Mine didn't wobble any more than any other plastic AEG. It was sturdy.

I agree about the review, very well done. Maybe its just my comp but only about half the pics are showing.

Hm. Weird. Have you tried Right-clicking and pressing 'Open Image in New Tab'?

On pages where I can't see the images, I use that and it works like a charm, every time.

Is this happening with everyone?

No, that's just standard on any cheap/plastic spring guide. It also wouldn't affect AOE at all, it's on the spring not the piston.
I assume it helps with rotational friction, if there is any.

And, the finished product, cleaned and re-lubed with Silicon Spray.

You need more than silicone spray to properly lube a gearbox. You need gear grease.

Sorry, but you don't seem to have a good grasp on what you're talking about.

I didn't know those two nuggets of information. Apologies. I'm going to go change the review and relube my gearbox with the correct grease now.
Thanks for the tidbits!

Just to say, it is not a JinPeng but a Cybergun repack from Cyma.
JP ones have metal lower, and are the worst internal for Famas.
Cyma's are very good, and with a little bit of upgrade they're close to be awesome.
Peace out'

Personnaly I have A cybergun Famas and never had problem with it for a whole year of games. just the plastic feels cheap in comparison to Real sword.
I forgot: the battery only last 2 mags first.. I changed it right away.

From what I read, the Palco FAMAS' OEM was JP. And, as CYMA only came out with a modded V1 gearbox and parts, I'd guess that mine is an upgraded JP version. The internals in here aren't shabby at all for a clone, though.

That's because it's a Real Sword. The FAMAS is a clone. Or, at least, this one is.

I'm pretty sure there's going to be texture discrepancies between the two. :P

Great review! Same problem with the pictures but your descriptions are more than enough.

JLiang February 1st, 2012 20:56

Thanks!

I'm not sure what's happening with the pictures.

Confuzzlement.

I'm actually super impressed that you are not even of age, yet you already know how to take apart and service a mech box. I know people who have been playing for a 5+ years who don't have a clue.

JLiang February 1st, 2012 21:03

Thanks. I read a substantial amount on the matter.

However, I did use the wrong type of lube inside, so I'm working on redoing that soon. Styrak pointed that out.

Thanks, Styrak! :D

Try hosting the images through photobucket instead. Never had an issue with them.

JLiang February 1st, 2012 21:08

That's odd. Photobucket never works for me.

Now I'm even more confused.
