Mine was metal, nothing more than a set screw then unscrewing the CCw threads. I am keeping the orange tip for transportation, the mock silencer for play and plinking.

Unless you're transporting to the US, its totally pointless.

As for orange paint, a lot can be removed with Jig-a-loo without damaging the real finish (unlike sandpaper).

Cleaner. Acetone works too, but make sure to dilute it first.

I'll hop in the thread because I have a really similar question. I'm acquiring a KWA USP Tactical (Threaded barrel) that comes with the threaded part orange. I absolutely need to make that orange part disappear, but I need to keep the threads intact and functional.

Any way to make it happen?

If you are dealing with paint on plastic something you may want to try is SuperClean. It's popular for stripping paint off wargaming miniatures as it doesn't eat the plastic and it works very well. As for the paint on the outer barrels I'm not too sure if it will work or not.

You can get it at most Canadian Tires. Just let the painted part sit for a few hours and then scrub with a tooth brush.

Edit: Another product you can try is Chameleon model paint stripper. SuperClean seems to work just as well though and is way easier and cheaper to get.
