Come again? I'm pretty sure it's needed to hold this in place:

Usually that ridge you see around that screw holds the trigger in place not the screw it self.

pestobanana May 28th, 2014 21:11

Oops, I mistaked that for the trigger screw. That's a very low stress screw, it shouldn't be too hard to get out, and if you can't get it out you can probably glue the head of the screw on. it just needs to prevent the cutoff lever from sliding off.

Hey man I took apart my very first gun I bought last year. Cyma ak47. Had fun until I opened the gear box and a bunch of things went flying lol. Cleaned and put it back together and it either locks up or just spins when I squeeze the trigger. It's basically a botch job and I don't even want to re open it to find out what's up. It's a learning experience though and eventually I'll have to do it myself anyways with my good guns .

Yeah, luckily I'm meeting with a fellow ASC gundoc on here tonight to go over it together. If I didn't have his help I'd probably pull my hair out attempting to work on this thing again.

For what it's worth though, I find the M4 gearboxes to be worse than the AKs, and if they are cheaply built ones, the trigger is just as finicky as the anti-reversal latch so you've got yet another thing to hold down.

Those friggin anti-reversal latches!! When I first started futzing with my m4 that cursed thing would Always manage to jump out :banghead:
don't get me started on tappet plates...
