I know of a few police officers, or people considering becoming police officers who dropped off the scene because police and airsoft are said to be a conflict of interest. This also just came up recently though...

I love how some people here just spew misinformation out of their asses.

Since original poster is from the Montreal area... there were some police officers from Joliette who played (dunno if they still do), and the SQ has a pretty big paintball team. And I know guys from at least one private security firm here that play airsoft (or use to, anyway... I'm not in that field anymore).

And while everyone is going on about legalities, it'd be good to keep in mind that its the import and sales of replica firearms that's banned; the private ownership and use (in the proper context) is still perfectly legal.

Of course it's not illegal for a police office to own an airsoft gun and play, but if your boss say you have to stop playing if you want to keep your job, what would you do?

This sort of thing is pretty subjective too, so I'm sure some departments would allow it where others wouldn't.

I know a few police officers who play. I'm in the army and I play. Hell, I get it written up on my reviews at work that I play. My bosses love the fact I do such extra training on my time off.

My thoughts exactly! I can name (but I won't) at least three police officers that I've played with/against regularly in the past couple years. Heck, a fellow officer of one of them showed up to the staging area between games in his police cruiser to visit on a Saturday, was interested in the airsoft guns (even fired off the M249 from his trunk). Cops are warey of airsoft for obvious reasons, but in private and controlled areas like where responsible persons play, they feel comfortable and show a lot of interest in the guns and the game, and ask about the legality of them.

I know of a couple active officers who play both airsoft and paintball. As for conduct issues there are not any. This is a recreational activity, sport, not screwing underage hookers or somthing. Most officers like other professionals may choose to keep it to themselves because of some misconceptions that surround anything to do with firearms.

I play with/against police officers from time to time. When we hit a checkstop on the way to the ferry last year, the officer asked where we were going, we told him. He hadn't heard of airsoft, but when we explained it was similar to paintball in many respects, he proceeded to tell us about his paintball guns and how he had done alot of upgrades, etc, etc.

He was easily late 40's to early 50's and didn't hassle us a bit about the 25+ guns we were carrying.

I know of a couple of people who are (or claim to be, but their facts seem straight) in law enforcement. There are a lot more players that are in security and the military, though.

As far as I know, no actual law enforcement officer has ever said formally on these boards what they did for a living (well, except a scammer in eastern Canada who turned out to be something quite far from RCMP material). The vibe I get from these guys is that they prefer to keep their employer private, therefore I believe we should let them be.

Exactly like that! Hehe, at one point TC was asking me upgrade questions about his new APS2 sniper rifle, I gave him a list of what all to get based upon my M24 upgrades, he got them but aside from that I wasn't able to say HOW to install some of it because I have yet to work on an APS2 (most parts between the two are interchangable). So, I pointed him the direction of Shagg......................

Shagg messages me one day following, said he had a good surprise, doorbell rings, he sees a police cruiser parked out front of his parents place, opens the door................ TC, in uniform, with a rifle case in hand asking for help upgrading his APS2!!! LMFAO
