I hear good things about newer ICS guns, apparently they dont have any issues that they used to.

you know if you purchase that TM and upgrade it to the maximum potential, it will come very close the the same price of a PTW....

very true, but i actually enjoy doing that more than buying one really good gun and doing nothing to it. i was like that with paintball, and i know i will be like that for airsoft. but with regards to that, a new inner barrel, and the 350 fps upgrade plan from 007 will only cost an additional $300 TOPS. so, ill only be spending about 1000 on my gun (excluding sight rails, scops and such) if you factor in the internals and the gun itself.

my HK11 shoots just as far as a PTW and it cost me half as much :)

Nice for you. It appears that a hopped-up Civic might impress you, while you bash a Ferrari for being what, overpriced? ICS is nowhere near in the same league, but it is a step-up over a stock Marui, but only barely. More in the dsame league as a Classic Army, flawed, but workable. You haven't owned a PTW, so your "opinion" doesn't really count. Sorry, but that's the way of the world.

I consistantly outrange just about everything I encounter, even gas Tanaka M700's shooting at their max velocity. And I can go from 300-500 fps in less than a minute, including battery change. Your HK11 can't and never would do that.

Put simply, you could never get that HK to perform like a PTW, no matter how much you spend. Next time you come to Alberta for a game, I think you'd find yourself out-ranged by my PTW, and end up eating crow.

You consistantly seem to bash the PTW, even though you considered buying one. My guess is you found out the cost investment, couldn't float it, so somehow this makes you feel better about not buying one.

But, back on topic, Marui is fine for a gun as long as you aren't expecting alot. You get a plastic body and very mediocre internals for $500. For $700+, you could get a Classic Army with very mediocre internals, but with a metal body. For a little bit more, you could get a G&P with better internals, but not great by any means. This will push you up into the near $1000 range.

Buy what you like, it's a place to start and by no means does it have to be the place to end. Play with it for a bit, get used to the game and tactics, then decide if upgrades or a gun change is warranted.

A upgraded AEG/PTW will give you more range/higher rate of fire, but thats it, it won't make you a better airsofter.

Not to split hairs but I would estimate ~$700US to max a TM w/ full metal, $800 with lipo. I'm not saying the PTW is not in its own class. Thats my point, it is, thats the problem to most dedicated gamers. You could very easily afford to max an AEG (still, many people don't even do this), possibly two depending on their role and complete a load out for the cost of an out-of-box PTW. Why are the mags so expensive? (Mosfet stuff?)

I do not know about you, but I pay from 40 to 64 for a BRAND NEW hicap systema mag, just depends where you get it from...

Mateba, it's a bit of a different story up here hen it comes to basic gun and parts costs. A decent quality metal body for an AR platform costs more than the whole Marui gun does on your side of the border. It's not uncommon to have people spend $1500 or much more on a Marui gun to bring it up to a good performance level, and still reliability is an issue. This does not allow for the power or flexibility of a PTW.

There are many people who bought PTWs in Canada when they were significantly less than $2000, while a stock Marui was $500+, a Classic army was $700-$800, a G&P is $900-$1000 jaust as a comparison. Cost/benefit analysis simply does not warrant upgrading a $1000 gun with $500-$600 in parts when the PTWs cost $2000.

And I pay about the same or less for PTW mags than what I used to pay years ago for Marui high-cap mags.

Ever been shot in the ear or face with in a decent engagement rage by something 280 fps? Its got plenty of kick.
Theres nothing wrong with 280, its fairly decent. Its not the fps or the gun that makes the player, sure it can help but a good player should be able to function regardless his airsoft gun.

yea for the bout 6 games i had a BE aug stock shooting 2800 oe 188 with a .25....i got lots of kill with it thought i was 2nd or 3rd best out there...

Trust me. I am expert... Fps is not important thing in Aeg.
It can be upgraded with ease.
Most important is LESS TROUBLE and DURABILITY.
TM is most relieable in WHOLE MECHANISM and MATERIAL.
Only TM is manufactured in Japan totally, most of other brands using parts made in China.

If it's of any significane, an upgraded spring was the last upgrade I did to my gun. A tightbore (later removed) and different optics were the first. I think a new hop-up and better sealing piston and nozzel are next. Even then, I only upgraded it to shoot around 340 fps with .20s, and I shoot .25s, producing probably somewhere around 250fps. My gun only has the range of a stock gun but I guarantee it's far more accurate with the heavier ammo. That was my real intention for a heavier spring: not more FPS, but similar FPS with heavier rounds.
