It's probably best to buy one size smaller because the OTV's are pretty big, especially since most people don't put all the padding and fake plates in them.

I think that's a key point: you should be wearing the same size as BDUs (ie., if you usually wear Medium/Reg, get a Med) but they're made to carry soft armor packs and plates. The soft armor is always in them (closed cell foam replicates it well), plates are optional (usually not worn green side, but worn black side. Although some people seem to opt to leave the rear plate out).

If you dont plan on putting in foam stuffing, it'll sit too big on you. If you use stuffing ("soft armor") alone it'll be "loose" but it'll fit ok, kinda like a jacket. With both front and rear plates in, I find it extremely snug and sometimes wish I had a larger size (so I usually leave the rear plate out).

Plate size is the same as the OTV's (Medium OTV = Medium SAPI plate).

Ebay has real covers, keep in mind they dont come with soft armor.
And That guy with the M14 in the first pic looked like he was wearing a ranger rack, but in the second pic I can see it's an OTV, it looks like it doesn't have any soft armor in it, but I can see he has the underarm protectors, very nice!
Like I said, I got my OTV through a retailer, it was just the covers so I bought 2 closed cell foam matresses and after an hour or two of cutting I filled up every piece of armor I had. Of course it's boiling hot in there now with the underarm protectors on lol

He wears his Ranger Rack over his OTV.

ThunderCactus February 15th, 2008 02:40

ohhhhhh so I was half right then lol
So does he have plates/soft armor in his OTV?
Granted it takes a while to cut them out and its freakin hot, but it makes the vest much more comfortable, especially when its -5 out lol

Well they have responded saying one size fits all but I may be too tall... Well... I'll order it and see what happens, worst case scenario I can always just re-sell it. And yeah i'd like the throat, shoulder, and especially groin protection... Thanks for your help guys.

I just sold that exact vest on this forum for $80.00 and it was an XL. Give me a PM if you need information on where to get one up to XXL size.

SDS_ShooterMcGavin February 15th, 2008 18:09

Hey Lotech,

Thanks but I got an email back from them saying they only carry large and xlarge. 24" from shoulder to waist, should fit just perfect! Again guys thanks for all your help.

SDS_ShooterMcGavin February 16th, 2008 14:48

Thanks to Lotech I found the vest for about 80$ cheaper! If anyone is looking for this vest I highly recommend www.airsoftgi.com !

ThunderCactus February 16th, 2008 15:32

It looks like they used white snow instead of desert sand on that ACU lol
Anyway it's impossible to tell from a picture, but you'll know right away when you compare it to issue BDUs.
It's got straps for the shoulderpads instead of straight velcro as well, thats a bit odd...
Take some pics when you get it, Id like to see it!

SDS_ShooterMcGavin February 16th, 2008 15:40

Oh well.. For the price difference you will hear no complaining from this end! And sure Frank i'll have pictures for you in 8-10 business days :)
