Why not? He's picking up a battery and charger with a couple of magazines. None of the items on that list can hold live ammunition, nor do they look like they can under anything more than a cursory inspection. Failing to declare them may result in unwanted attention, but otherwise, nothing wrong there.

That's perfectly fine, but it's also perfectly fine to have them shipped across the border. You're not saving money traveling south to pick it up. If you're worried about clearing/ brokerage fees, just ask the shipping company if you can clear the item yourself. Then it's just a matter of driving to the company, picking up some paperwork, going to customs, paying a small fee and getting some paperwork, then going back to the shipping company for your items.

Why not? He's not buying a gun or restricted parts. There's no rules against bringing batteries, chargers, and airsoft mags into Canada. He declares them at Customs, pays whatever duties he must (if applicable), and he's happily on his way

Well unless you have a reason to go there, I think having them shipped to you would be cheaper than the cost of gas!

Ive ordered M9 mags, m700 mags, and many many many armalite mags with out any problems.

You don't need to try and smuggle mags. I've bought them by the box full. They were opened at customs and let through with no problems. Don't worry about them if they don't have fake bullets.

As repeated several times over in this thread, you can bring any airsoft mag you want into Canada as long as it doesn't have fake bullets like the Sig and P90 mags.

Ok, I am speaking from my personal orders. I have ordered Metal frames (With trades) mags for Mp5 (With exposed shells) inner and outher barrels. Many parcels have been opened and inspected, and all were released, items were not seized. I live in the GTA (Toronto west) It may depend on the area you live in. Most of the seizures are officer discretion.

I hear of other people who've successfully brought these items over. It's a gamble. Eventually, you probably will have a package seized if you're a regular importer. There are many factors that can contribute to these items making it through, even though they were inspected.

Many customs inspectors may not know the exact letter of the law on airsoft, and figure it's just an airsoft mag, and let it though. And as you say, mopic, seizures are at officer discretion. If someone is feeling lazy and doesn't want to fill out a bunch of forms that day, he / she may allow the package through. An inspector who's in a foul mood may interpret the law very harshly and even seize totally legal items he / she believes are questionable. That's happened before too to other ASC members who've had legal parts seized, although it seems those occurances are pretty rare. It seems quite random. And of course, that doesn't include all the packages containing all these prohibited parts that made it through customs unopened.

A lot of stuff does get through our borders that (rightfully or not) should not be allowed into the country by letter of the law. However, many still make it through. But you are taking a change that these items will be seized and you'll lose your money. It's a gamble, but it's possible to get them.
