And much like the Glock or USP all you need to replace is slide and barrel then upgrade the recoil spring and you have a full metal gun. Besides, there are plenty of Hi-Capas outthere that have been FMU and have had thousands of rounds through it with propane and had no issues with wear. Mine have had at least 2-3000 rounds through it and the wear is minimum at the barrel lug. SD's slide are pretty tough as they are 7075, which as far as aluminum goes is about as tough as they come.

Well, I'm grabbing a Nineball combat sight... So that'll do away with the crappy bomar knockoff.

As for the slides, are you sure the SD's are 7075? I was planning on grabbing an airsoft surgeon slide, but that's only T6..

SDs are all 7075.....they are costly for a reason....

Where are you getting the 9ball sight? Can't seem to find them instock anywhere...

I dunno man. They cost like 90$ on RW v.s the 113$ of AS.

The sight's from Lokisama :)

It would depend on the cut in the frame to retain the sight (same on both 5.1 and 4.3?), though, the portion of the sight that sits outside of the slide shouldn't matter. At least in this case, where it sounds like the sight came off completely due to slide failure as opposed to just the sight itself falling apart.

I don't think 4.3 has the necessary cuts on the right side for ambix safety.

If the issue is with stock and aftermarket coming together inharmoniously, how about a stock metal gun like the KWA M9? Some good things have been said about the more recent version. (Please don't kill me, 2011 fanatics)

4.3 uses a different sight and thus the cut, as the sights themselves are not compatible between the 5.1 and 4.3. I thought the Dual stainless version of 4.3 uses ambi safety, don't they share the same frame?

ILLusion May 11th, 2008 12:03

The 4.3 Dual Stainless does in fact have an ambi safety.

The frames are definitely different, though. Besides the Dual's frame being bling-maxed with polished areas, it also has the cuts to allow the ambi safety, which the standard 4.3's frame doesn't have.

can i replace the 5.1 slide with a guarder 4.3 aluminum slide while retaining the original barrel and guide rod?

thanks

You can swap a 4.3 slide and use the 5.1 innards...not sure why, looks really weird.

Unless you mean just the inner barrel and guide rod, and put a compensator on it.

You would need 4.3 guiderod bushing(which I think is included in the slide kit. Other than that there is no reason why you can't do it...

That setup actually looks quite interesting if you use a comp with it...

I am about 100% certain my fully built race gun will be of that variety....makes good sense for weight and what not too....
