Within a few months, you likely won't even be able to get a new AR into Canada via the retail network. It's funny, we're a willing market in arms and supplies, and for once, the Americans won't sell to us.

Theirs to busy selling it to places in the middle east.

If you lived in Dubai, Kuwait or any American Friendly countires in 3rd World regions, it's all the guns you want.

I could see a real EOTech or something being ITAR export controlled (and maybe it is, dunno?)... but Evike doesn't have anything that good.

mcguyver September 4th, 2008 00:50

It's more likely that with Canadian sales equal to maybe 1/10 of 1% for many companies, it's better to just not do it than deal with any hassles from our Customs or theirs. Internal policy has the same effect for us as legislation, we have to find other routes or do without.

That's why anything I've bought I carried with me on the plane.

Oh shit, I think I'm fucked now.

What will happen when I go to the land of easy guns (aka Arizona) this fall?

i recently tried to buy a Dawson fiber optic front sight from a us retailer. Its a piece of metal with brightly coloured plastic string, but it was still a no-go for export.

its a shame, since there are alot of decent, well priced optics in the us, but foreigners can't touch them. I blame Iraq!

This is nothing new of American treatment of Canadian customers. We simply are not a big enough market to warrant the extra work it takes them and simply say f-u Canada even if for no real reason other than laziness.

Once I bought a Hot Wheels car on ebay. The lady refused to sell it to me saying: "I don't want to fill out a form" when the form amounted to writing: "toy car - value $1.50" on a sticker

Back on topic, many retailers simply won't ship items they are unsure about to protect their asses (even if it is also laziness). There's a lot I can't order from Outdoorsportsman.com

It's allready happening. I just got a new M-4 varient and had to get it from the UK. The US said no export permit on the version I wanted.

Drake September 5th, 2008 12:01

The US is just pissed at us cuz we tricked 'em into taking Celine Dion.
