Now there's a combination of stuff that I wouldn't want to get caught on fire!

So It'll burst into flames.... Then get EXTREMELY hot!

I'll just stick to NICD, I havn't had a problem with 'em yet :)

hmm I never thought about that. They are supposed to be safer than li-po and a battery the same size has more MH and more voltage... bigger bang for the buck in the RC world, dunno how many guns could take the extra punch though.

Same old media scare tatics with LiPo's that they use to use on non LiPo batteries back in the 80's and 90's. I remember having to sit and watch a safety video on the proper filling and charging procedure on car/truck and marine batteries as they could explode.

Same thing as now a days. Don't be a dumb ass and mistread the batteries and your fine. Be a dumb ass, and quess what natural selection process takes charge.

guys.... i have been using lipo's in the rc hobby for years now (Heli's)..... if you use a good charger with a balancer on it, there is no problem. i'd suggest, for this hobby the CellPro Revolution 4S charger, as it charges and balances anything up to 4s, and is very safe..... it has auto fast charge function, it'll increase the "C" rating and slowly bleed it down till its charged..... check them out at FMA Direct.

I was how ever looking at going li-mag for that reason. But they are damn pricey.

If your interested there right here, not supposed to be near as dangerouse as Li-po.

And Ginnz, I guess you don't understand how your charger works yet:

The Current is forced at the set amount (usually 1C). Voltage is floating.
Until the Voltage reach 3.6v/cell. Then, it is the Voltage that is forced at the set amount, and current is floating.

The pack is detected "charged" when it does not drain any current ("any" is under 20mA).

I bet theses "bag" don't last 30 seconds if a LiPo catches on fire. The videos you see on youtube are fake. Most of the time the battery is hooked on a charger to make them blow. Most of the time, over current or a Ni~ charger is used.

I had a defective battery explode in my place recently. It did not melt right through steel. It did not melt the bricks on my fire place. It barely burnt a wood plate in front of it. Surface burn like when you turn a wood piece black with a lighter.
