@safx - At first yes, but as I progressed and was able to see what was going on I became a lot more confident. Also I only worked on that part for about 10 minutes each day so I wouldn't rush and make a mistake.
@Danke - I've never personally liked the 3hole trigs on 1911's, but I could see how it would look good here. @Ironsight - It's worth it to have some delivered to a UPS store south of the border and then drive across to get it - Laure only ships UPS and compared to the brokerage gas is cheap! |
I approve of your plan to change the sights.
For anyone who'd wondering, it the old days the 1911 trigger was steel and would get drilled if you'd had a trigger job otherwise bounce might wreck something (in other words the pistol could fire 2-3 times from one pull). If you pulled out a .45 with a 3-hole trigger it was a sign you were serious. With Aluminum triggers it's not really needed but still taken as a sign of a worked over pistol. |
Hmmm, well then, I might just have to break it down again and slap the trigger on the drill press @ work.

People will know! When you draw they'll simply turn and run rather than be shot.

The paintwork is beautiful. Did you use a hobby airbrush? How many coats in total?

There were four coats done in each session, two sessions so 8 coats + touchups. DuraCoat really likes to fisheye (even when the item has been cleaned) if you don't use a reducer (which I didn't) so many light coats were the order of the day. If I had to do it again I would have mixed in some reducer, otherwise it's a little thick. |
I figured. I've got a Badger 200 single action as well...which is really enough for this kind of work. Does Duracoat take long to cure?

Dry enough to handle after an hour, I waited 8 hours to assemble and now it's sitting in my heater room (w/ the hot water heater) to cure fully.

That looks insanely awesome. Great job

I have the same base gun with the Guarder Slide and Frame and it probably wishes it looked like that. Excellent work.
