On the note of gunner grips, I think I might of found something identical to them on VZ grips. Simonich Gunner Grips there called, bottom of the 1911 grips page, personally like the looks of the Operator IIs. They're out of the USA and only via UPS, so $65 (american) grips, $38 (american) for shipping, and dealing with the border.

Simonich Knives has been the official distributor of Gunner Grips for at least 5 years now. They've actually stopped distributing them as of early 2011, and the only Gunner Grips available on the market are of a different production design. The material even feels different.

Note how the indent "pockets" look between the two versions:

New:

The old ones were rounder, and more oval shaped. The new ones are more of a cross checked diamond pattern. This results in very sharp peaks that, while was more tactile, I personally don't like the feel of.

I'd originally purchased mine directly from Simonich here: http://www.simonichknives.com/gunner.htm

However, all purchasing info now directs the buyer to VZ. When I'd contacted the sales reps early last year, they'd also turned me over to VZ, and said that the transition was new at the time.

I ended up buying a pair from TADGear (who no longer carries them), and they were the original style.

If you keep your eyes peeled, used original ones (or even sometimes unused ones) will pop up from time to time on gun forums (and even sometimes airsoft forums.)

Added magwell, switched grip, can't find the Kimber carbon grip with Magwell cut...

Might change to carbon creation grip and sell these Alumagrip...

I wish someone makes a one piece 16mm externally threaded barrel similar to what USP Tactical has...in steel too...

does anyone know where i can get furniture for a WE 1911 MEU? more specifically the safety levers?

ILLusion January 24th, 2012 13:07

If it's Marui compatible, I have tons here... unfortunately, I don't really know the WE 1911 platform well enough to confirm compatibility.

bareass January 24th, 2012 15:53

i'm not sure that they are.... anyone know?

I can confirm that the WE beavertail is NOT compatible.

So I have a hunch that the slide lock is also not compatible.

My KJW MEU with new Shooters Design slide.(thanks dokternik)
Slide needed a little dremel work and some parts from the original slide also required some modification. Got it cycling smoothly.
I just need to get some new sights because the current front sight is very loose.

That loose front sights might be a common problem with these Shooter's Design slides. I have the same one and neither the stock TM sights or my Dytac sights snugly fit in there. Superglue solved the problem but made it a semi-permanent addition.

Thanks for the "insightful" information ;)
I've got some Dytac sights coming soon so I'll go try and find my superglue.
At the moment the KJW front sight is shimmed with some thin plastic strips . Without the shims it basically falls off.
