Those look surprisingly good. I think the MEU lower could use Novak sights, but asides from that, those both look really hot.

Its actually the same one I've been using, its just a SD Chamber and straight outer.

I chuck in on a lathe and crowned the tip of it to match the new Nova bushing I got for it...kinda like the ones in this thread...

Awesome....I don't own one yet but I would love to have a classic wwii esque looking colt 1911(full metal of course). What are your recommendations brand wise? I don't know which companies make the best ones.

I have personal experience with NOVA, Creation, and Guarder. Both the NOVA and Creation kits have excellent finishes to them which make them really nice to use. They are also extremely easy to put together and have little to no problems during that process, while Guarder needs a destructive modification done to the blowback unit before things can fit (with some filing here and there. NOVA and Creation kits are also quite resilient to normal wear and tear, unlike the Guarder kits which are less durable in comparison.

It's all nova. The nova mbks come with a 1piece outer barrel along with the slide n frame.

Got the new KSC 1911 upgraded with the TADGear grip panels, that I took off my disappointing SOCOMGear MEU. I think they look much better on a black gun. Now the guns still old-school, but with a badass touch...

Where did you get the case for the mags? Ive been looking for something like that for my TM 1911 mags but havent found anything like that. Is it hip mounted?

Be careful, the marui one fits perfectly with the 1911 frame, but not the MEU frame.

Fobus with paddle mount.... could be a Rotomount, though. Real steel gun/tactical shops probably carry them - they're not really an item that's seen in airsoft too much.

I was just curious. How is it that most of the pics iv quickly scanned through all seem to have metal frames, mainly the digital cam pics of personal 1911's. Im still a bit of a nub to all of this so if someone would so kindly help me out please :)

I am soon to join the 1911 club :) Have ordered a SOCOM Gear MEU. But I have two questions...

1) Where can you get custom grips?

2) Are there any for the MEU, or only the standard 1911 style grip?

MEUSOC is a type of 1911...and should fit any grip design to fit a 1911 government frame.

Sweet, I had guessed that most 1911 parts would work on the MEU, I was just curious because the MEU has more of a wrap-around grip then the standard 1911 if they were interchangeable.

for future reference, if you get a clone 1911, atleast get an ARMY or Meister, the WE 1911s are shitty, and have proprietary magazines that hold half the number of BBs that a TM holds, and STILL sometimes wont get a full mag off before running out of gas, not to mention broken spring plugs and barrel bushings

Yeah, I have a SOCOMGear MEU; I wish I'd done more research before I bought it. Half the mags leak, and it didn't last 4 months gamed lightly once a week before it broke down. Pull the trigger and the hammer doesn't drop, or half drops and empties all the gas. Or it fires 3-4 round bursts. Now I have a KSC 1911A1 and I couldn't be happier with it.
Still trying to decide if the MEU is worth the trouble to mail it to a gun doc to try and fix it.

Still working on this one, sorry if I put up too many pictures. I need you guys' opinion on this. Since my controls are black and the rest of the gun is chrome, I think I need more black/grey to balance it out. It looks great when there's some shadow but otherwise its just a whole lot of chrome with a couple random black controls. (you can see the difference between the pictures with and without shadows) I'm thinking of filling in the trademarks, slide serrations, and the top of the slide like this real steel except without the black under the muzzle (i think it's too much):

I plan on using aluma hyde either black or grey. Has anyone done this before? Not sure if grey or black will work out nicer. Black looks nice in the real steel but a bit too bold, I don't know if grey will be a bit more mellow and blend the chrome and black together.

Black is fine as it is. You don't want a all out chrome gun.. Nice Guarder kit.

I said I want to put more black in because most of the gun is chrome which I think is a bit too shiny.

Good ol' TM MEU. I was originally going for an MEU (SOC) build, but I got distracted along the way.

Shooter's Design metal body and barrel
Illusion Kinetics Commander Hammer
Airsoft Surgeon lightweight BBU
TK twist barrel
Dytac Illuminated MEU sites (suck)
Some fancy trigger
TM 4.3 grip safety (On an MEU, gasp!)
Extended slide release (too awesome)
Stock TM mag release, bushing, grip safety, frame safety, and MSH.
Wood grips!

They're elongated. Both of my 1911s have this trigger, one in silver and one in black.

Are those custom grips? I've been thinking about putting grips on my MEU, but they don't make Marui compatible ones, so I'm thinking I might need to sand down the inside for the weights.

tokyomodelcompany has TM compatible wood grips in all sorts of patterns and styles. Kimber, Springfield Armory, double diamond like mine, 1911a1 style... all sorts. And they fit the weights as well.

Real steel grips will fit on a Marui and they are often cheaper than those "Airsoft" grips. I got Raasco grips on my 1911a1, they fit perfectly, no modification necessary. The gun is a bit lighter without the weights if you kept the original plastic body... but I personally don't think it's a problem.
