Hi everyone,

This is one of my first times posting here, I usually just read and enjoy. Lately my girlfriend has been bugging me to come play airsoft.

I was wondering if anyone out there who would have some tips for getting her started? More or less the gear side of things and possibly some newbie friendly games in the Toronto area.

Few more things,

- Would an MP5 style AEG be something appropriate for her to start with?
- Vests that fit well for ladies? ( she is concerned about her breasts being protected )
- A field ladies frequent?
- She is a little concerned with it being a mostly male sport and standing out
- Her size is 5'9 110 pounds ( if that helps )

These are just concerns off the top of my head. If I could get some input from any girls here who play, or males who have taken their girlfriends into the adventure of airsoft.

ANY help would be appreciated, thanks ASC.

I just saw this post and I personally think that it's awesome that she wants to come out and play.

I definitely LOL'd about her concern for standing out amongst the guys. There's not much he can do about that as guys are definitely going to oggle a chick holding a gun :P

I think an mp5 might suit her well depending on her size and strength. She may want something bigger (but let's be honest, what woman doesn't always want something bigger).

In this regard, a shorter female will do well with an M4 that has a stock that can be adjusted, unlike with the MP5. Note that many of the MP5s on the market, with the exception of the plastic Classic Army MP5K, are actually really heavy compared to many M4s.

I agree with the Mp5 being a heavy gun. Not only that it is front heavy. A CQBR length m4 with adjustable stock is a good choice.

Magpul gear with a post grip or AFG; that's if it's too heavy/front heavy.

Because she's so good at stalking that we never see her and that's why we forgot! :p

it's not necessarily how heavy the gun is.. it's where the weight is on the gun. The straighter your arms have to be to hold the harder it is to stabilize. If you can keep the gun closer to your body, the easier it will be to hold, shoulder and fire with less wavering because of the weight.

No one ever notices her until it's too late. She's probably dressed like a bush, in a bush, watching this thread.

"Girls of ASC" would make an awesome calendar.

Get her a DMR with scope, girls are naturally good shooters and that way she could kick back and pick people off and move up at her own comfort level.

Soon she will wanna run and gun with a p90.

vondnik September 12th, 2012 18:06

Just a curve ball question here... Did you ask her what she liked? When mine started I told her to pick what gun she wanted on the rack... She went for the 249..... But at 27 pounds shes a heavy bitch, she tried just about every gun i owned and then declared the sig and m14 hers... Who an I to argue I always play with the rpk anyway.... Dont decide for her.. Let her do the deciding and you'll be doing the paying soon anough.... The most priceless look you'll ever get is when she figures out you registered her with your usual groupe of close friends but put yourself on the opposite team.... Man it's been two years and I still hear about it...

wife has been playing since 2002, she favors a sig commando and m4 shorty but also has a p90 and ak, for gear she likes the blackhawk strike rig or a a hsgi dach, and can throw down better then most.. once we get on the field she disapears.. sorry ricochet the no couple thing is crap, sounds like a lot of egos, people must remember we "play" airsoft we are not airsoft. this is just a game, but thats just my opinion, that and a buck you can get a cup of coffee.

That's like saying just because she has a vagina she can make good sandwiches.

Despite the running joke, I've never met a girl who could make a better sandwich than me... even after watching me make one.

Regardless of sex, some people will be naturally be good at something, or could be good after training. Others could still be bad even after being taught. To say everyone in a certain sex is a natural at something is simply false.

From experience girls are better first time shooters than guys for one very simple reason: They fucking listen to what they are told and put what was said into application where guys hit the matcho switch and don't listen. Every time i do an initiation to firearms I always chalenge the couple to shoot a little competition a the end to see who pays for diner and 8 times out of 10 the guys are buying...

Yeah, I don't get that. My girlfriend comes out all the time now. Hell, she builds props for our games and brings delicious baking out to the field, although she gets annoyed that I don't cook at home but when in field I make bacon in the middle of a gunfight.

Hell, the best moment I had in the last few months of airsoft, I was single-handedly storming a small bunker and I take fire from it. I duck, check target and hear a familiar giggle. I shout out, "IS THAT YOU?!" She laughs and puts a few bb's over my head. It's a good thing her AEG crapped out on her, but we had one fuck of a good gunfight.

So to me, it sounds like you've got some really unstable asstard couples.

Gunk September 12th, 2012 21:58

Yeah, there've been couples out at Finches on fairly regular occasions, with no issues.

It doesn't matter if someone is part of a couple or single... unstable is unstable, and they'll find something to lose their shit over. Whether it's some other dude checking out his girlfriends ass, or a full auto burst, or a twig fell in front of him.
