loopholes ftw:D

I will see what I can do.

I will start making calls tomorrow morning. Any information you guys have that you think will help the cause can be emailed to info@silvercore.ca

Off the top of my head, things that would be useful are:

- List of any current Canadian Airsoft dealers
- List of dealers that had their licences revoked
- Reasons for being revoked
- Any legal documents from CBSA or CFC (ie denials or approvals)
- Any recent precedent on the definition of a replica (everyone in the real gun world knows it’s vague at best).
- Key contacts for US exporters
- US state dept reg’s regarding export\

Sincerely,

If we are going to do this, we are not going to dabble in loopholes. We will make sure it's done right (I have too much to loose otherwise).

PS, is the edit feature broken, or is it just me?

The posibilty of a new retailer is quite exiting!
I can gaurantee you would be a very loved man Travis.
As for canadian retailers at the top of the forum scroll over "canadian retailers" theres a list of them. Im pretty sure they are not all active now though, I know 007 is..

Someone else can chime in on this:)

You'd want to import from Hong Kong or parts of Asia, not US.

You can only do a 1 year rental legally, with special permission to extend it for an additional. That is the max lease time. But you have to return it to the dealer when done, and it has to be accounted for, technically.

What if you weren't buying the gun but a pack of bb's with a free gun :P It worked for turtles

Or you could do that, send it back, and lease it again? Or do what bean said :P

Any particular distributers?

Whether it's free or you pay for it, a transfer is still a transfer and technically illegal. Everyone wants to look for the "loophole" or the secret way to the forbidden fruit. I can get cocaine and hookers and machine guns with only a phone call and some $$$$. We all know that I may get busted, but likely not. That still doesn't make it any more legal.

Silvercore, before you go to head-long into this, do some serious thinking about how much your business is worth to you. Seriously, don't listen for a second to the guys on here looking for a cheap deal. I would not even entertain this idea until you have a good discussion with the CBSA, but I can tell you for sure that you won't get anything "in writing" that says you can import prohibited devices like replicas and then sell them. I'm not saying this because I don't want to see more airsoft guns in Canada, or that I don't another dealer to pop up, but the damage that could be done to both the airsoft and real gun community if you got nailed with trafficking charges is not worth it. And for those who say it doesn't happen, you're in need of a serious reality check.

Stay away from importation for the purposes of resale. Use them for your own use.

Seconding mcguyver's advice. While I would love to see a resurgence of retail airsoft proliferation, there is a very good reason why within the span of two years the number of retailers have gone from plentiful to practically nil.

There are others here who are able to describe more eloquently and legally what the law currently dictates and how things are enforced. It is the latter that both permits this community to exist and limits the existence of retailers.

There are those who have fought and lost in the current enforcement climate. Those wise enough have closed shop before being too closely scrutinized and losing all.

L473ncy March 17th, 2008 23:37

Don't do it, man. Unless you can guarantee that your company and yourself will be free from litigation. Sure everyone here likes a good deal but when you become target for litigation then no one's gonna touch you with a 10 foot pole. If you do decide to go ahead with it make sure you cannot get into any legal trouble in ANY way. It would be nice to see a new retailer but there is always the option of the classifieds. So in short look out for yourself and your company first then after that help the community to grow.
