Am I doing it right???
http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...47043456_n.jpg

Just got it yesterday, took off everything I'm replacing except the upper receiver, everything's been broken down and cleaned thoroughly except for the mechbox, once everything gets here next week I can take apart the lower again and start painting!
Decided on using an AEG stock, so I'm gonna machine the M16 buffer stub into an AEG stock adapter

Karma_ March 15th, 2012 00:20

Don't do an AEG buffer tube modification. Bad idea. Go with a mil-spec buffer tube and then use whatever AEG stock you want. You can use a GBBr or real steel buffer tube. Some cutting needs to be done but it's pretty minimal.

Where are you going to put the battery?

I recommend one of these:

Find a WE gbbr buffer tube. They are Milspec. AND CHEAP! Sometimes you can find them floating around these boards! Mine cost me $20 from a fellow member.

Cut off the end cap, install like usual, use milspec or AEG stock of your choice. Done. Pat self on back for good job. Take pictures and post here.

Excellent idea with just one itty bitty little problem. The stock I want doesn't mount on a buffer tube lol
Will take pics before and after though

M4 and M16 lowers are different. If you want to install an M4 stock on an M16 lower, you need to machine open a large are of the threads on the bottom of the receiver.

You will see as soon as you thread in the buffer tube.

ThunderCactus March 15th, 2012 15:22

Need to machine that slot for running the wires, yes?
My roomie has an M4 PTW so I've at least got a pattern to work off of!

I'll be running a G&P marine stock, lots of room for a fair size LiPo brick with room left over for the board and wiring, and I can contain everything in a ziploc for heavy rain, so at least the stock will be water proof lol

PTW/Troy Battel Axe Stock Lipo Mod

3 Attachment(s)
SO I have always had a hate for the damn Crane stock and the massive battery.

Got a spare Battle Axe Stock and decided to put it on the PTW.

The nice folks at CheapBatteryPacks came up with a small LiPo that will fit in the stock. I can actually get two in there.

Just have to cut over to Deans and get me damn supercharger in!

A couple changes.

Added Magpul MOE grip and changed optics to Replica EO553.

alex when the hell did u get a MOE grip ?!?!?!?!

Junky March 18th, 2012 20:16

I had it installed before Wolverines 3! Real Steel, very easy mod. Much more comfortable than the standard AR.

BoB March 19th, 2012 20:43

About friggen time.

Just threw some things on it for now. Need to put a sling mount on the tube but the damn wires are in the way and I cant screw it off. Don't really feel like disconnecting them.

Karma_ March 19th, 2012 21:45

It's easy to do. Pop off the buffer tube cap and then pull the wires out of the way from the tube. Then loosen the castle nut and have at it.

At least you saw the wires;)
