Surprised these are available now. They use to be limited to certain military units only.

The Tasco and the Samurai clones all fit the same mount.

Yea its too bad that the mount and the docter will end up costing more than the Elcan itself lol

And can you link to the Samurai clone? I can't find it anywhere, but i've never been especially talented with google :/

Well... real Doctersights have been difficult find these days, but if you can (probably won't be from the US), they'll cost anywhere from $400 to $900.
The clones aren't too expensive. The most expensive is the Tasco unit, which can be considered to be a real steel item sold by a couple of airsoft stores, and even that is just a touch over $200. I know from personal experience that this will fit the Elcan Doctersight mount.
Other "MRD" (Mini Red Dot) sights on the market that *may* fit Doctersight mounts are also on the market, and even the most expensive one is just a touch over $400USD. Such models would be the CMore STS, JP Enterprises, Safariland Spec Ops, Burris FastFire, Trijicon RedDot, Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated, Laser Devices Sub-Miniature, Leupold DeltaPoint and Sightmark Mini Shot.

From that extensive list alone, you can tell that Doctersight really changed the industry. Even companies like LaRue have created specialized combat accessories for the MRD platform, such as this:

As a tip, if you're buying for real steel use, you'll want a dot size around 7MOA. Anything smaller than.... let's say 5MOA would probably start to be too small for airsoft use.

The Samurai unit can be had for less than $150 if you can find it. These days, they're not as available as they use to be.

Scroll down a bit. Or Ctrl-F and enter "Samurai"

I've tested pretty much every single airsoft replica clone on the market, and the Samurai is probably the best one, at least most comparable to my extensive use with a real Doctersight. Very crisp dot, clean glass, and effective ambient light sensor.

Will one of these Specter DR replicas withstand the abuse of a GBBR rifle? I know when mounting a Aimpoint Micro T1 on a GBBR, they shake themselves to death...
Also a chance the glass might get shot-out. Any type of ARD device available yet to save the glass?

Real ARD's exist... I don't think it's been documented whether it will fit the replica or not.

Just ordered mine on ACM-Gear... let's see how it goes!

huang May 18th, 2010 22:23

1x - 4x should come this summer. And there will be 2 factories make them. So hopefully the price can drop

Conker May 18th, 2010 22:53

Damn... Now I'm wondering if I should cancel my order and wait or what...

Huang, any idea on the price, approximately, and release? (this summer as in june or august?)

You sure about the x1-x4 ? The chinese ones I had in hand were only x4.

Lol, thats because they come out in the summer so you probably didn't see them

They 1/4x will be $399 though. Not worth it, imo.
Especially considering the questionable durability of constantly switching between 4x and 1x RDS on a ACM, i think it would be more practical and more aesthetically pleasing to grab the $149 4x, get a mount for $70, and get a clone mini dot and you are talking anywhere from $260-360 depending on the ACM RDS you get on top, which is cheaper than the 1/4x.
More convienient too, imo

Of course thats a huge investment in itself lol, more expensive than a lot of people's guns -.-

skalnok May 19th, 2010 00:52

definitely not more expensive than peoples guns in canada lmaoo :P

wow i kinda want to see the 1-4x before i make any purchases lol.

Thought I may share

http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/o...m/DSC00131.jpg

A real SpecterDR mounted to my airsoft rifle. I haven't played with a clone one yet, but if someone is willing to direct me to the best place to get the best clone I'll consider it ;)

Moving from 1x to 4x is amazing clean, clear optic. Biggest gripe is how god damn tough it is to adjust the illumination. moving from red dot, to illuminated crosshairs and NV modes required a pair of pliers (almost) at first to turn the nob. It got better with time.

This optic IS SEX
