I'm having a helluva time trying to get my Lonex box to fit in my G&P - no idea how you did it Stealth lol.

I can't get the rear body pin to line up along with the one slipping through just behind the trigger.

Edit: G&P used some kind of rubber padding on the ass end of the lower receiver which I never noticed - it was stopping pins from going in by a fracture of a mm - fits like a glove once its removed!

Trigger pin first. Then body pin. Then pistol grip and buffer tube.

Oh yeah, some G&P receivers have that, not sure why. I surmise they realized that a batch of their mechboxes were off-spec and they had to compensate.

King Arms does something similar to their receivers - note the small casting addition to the front lower part of the upper receiver to push the hop-up unit against the mechbox.

Love Lonex, and so does my M4. Just saw this review, good detail; you are the airsoft AEG guru around here Stealth, the info is much appreciated.

really liking my new mechbox, is it just me or do they come with the red piston now? Although, it is supposed to have a 120 spring in it, its only shoting like 390fps on a 416 CQB. I suspect that either a m100 spring was put in by mistake when my sorbo was installed, or i have some airseal issues somewhere. Oh well :p

cetane August 15th, 2013 20:55

M120 could be in that range. I have a a&k masada bone stock with a promiethius m120 that is in the low 380's (what ehobbyasia installed for export)

Stealth August 15th, 2013 23:01

I would love to say that if you run out and buy an M120 spring, you'll get 400fps bang-on, but such is not the case.

There could be any number of factors:
* Bore diameter
* Nozzle to hop-up sleeve air seal
* Air seal around the sleeve and barrel
* Piston O-ring seal
* Nozzle O-ring seal

Add on top of the fact that not all springs are identical and you'll start to see where the source of inconsistency / error margin.

Rabbit August 15th, 2013 23:11

Sorbos along with AOE correction lower the fps as well - I only use m120s now because they usually produce 390fps with a good airseal.

I'd actually like to see the inside of someones lonex box from when this thread first started - it would be interesting to see what has held up over time

pestobanana August 16th, 2013 10:07

@Rabbit Sorbos shouldn't lower your FPS noticeably. I've never noticed a difference in FPS after installing one.
390 FPS with a M120 means you have a poor air seal. I've never noticed more than a 10 fps deviation between spring brands I've used.
I'm getting 395 fps with a Modify S100 spring in my G36. In my M14 I'm getting 455 fps with a MadBull M120.

@Cetane A&K Masada's come stock with almost no air seal at all. I've worked on two of them in the past week. M120 should be netting you at least 420-430 fps with a decent air seal.

Stealth August 16th, 2013 10:19

Uhhhh... I'm going to venture to say they're horribly mis-labelled.

Can you imagine people running out to buy an M120 to get a field-legal gun and get 455fps? Well at least you got a high-power spring on the cheap! LOL.

lurkingknight August 16th, 2013 10:28

depending on your cylinder type and barrel combo, you could jump that threshold of being properly volumed to under volumed. I had to switch cylinder types in one gun to get fps back from a sorbo install.

Stealth August 16th, 2013 10:44

I've always wanted to build an energy creep gun, especially since we have those Bioshot .32s readily available now...

Lurking: how thick of a pad did you use? I've been sticking with 3/16" plus a 1/32" neopad and haven't messed up voluming yet.
