Justice for airgun shooting...
I'm not sure anyone else has seen this
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/loc...-88892762.html but what the public sees is yet another group of teens (15-16 year olds) who do a drive by shooting of another kid with an airsoft rifle. I know that these were Wallmart/Canadian Tire guns. However, most of the population that reads this may look at airsoft in a negitive light. This is exactly why ASC has their age verification. Can you imagine these guys buying a fully colored AK and doing this, or a gun upgraded to 400fps. This is where most of the bad press for airsoft comes from. Lastly I don't understand the idea of no charges laid, especially to the "adult" who was driving. My understanding of the criminal code is that a crime commited with an airgun face the same punishment as the same crime commited with a firearm. It's probably best for the airsoft community if no charges are laid and this blows over with just school discipline, but it makes you think. |
I think they should be charged. If more the lowest common denominators of society were held accountable for their actions, we who follow the laws won't be stripped of our rights to enjoy the same things responsibly.
In other words if they don't get charged as well as others who do the same things, then the governments knee-jerk reaction is to ban those very things being used. Effectively stripping those of us who enjoy the same "TOOL", if you will, with respect. When in actuality the root of the problem (idiots) should simply be held accountable for their actions and face the consequences of said action. Not protect them with the banning of inanimate objects. |
Yeah, the kid is ugly and a huge crybaby pussy for crying to daddy and johnny law over this, but the issue here is beyond some fatbody chickenshit - every one of these reports, every one of these incidents, reflects poorly on the sport and makes our collective lives a little harder.
I think this is one of those times where we need to take a step back before we can make any forward progress. How can we keep this clearsoft garbage out of the scum-sucking bottom tier of society's hands? |
we can't.
and we're not responsible for other people's stupidity. |
It seems the article is focused on the Bullying aspect. That and because it's out west, there isn't a knee jerk
"OMFG WE HAVE TO BAN IT ,UMMM....whatever it is...all I saw was a gun thingy" reaction. |
sticky in the Newbie Tank under the Age Verification section :)
|
Daddy needs to poe-leese that moosestache.
|
Dey all looks like a bunch uv elvises!
|
has anyone ever killed a "small animal" with an airsoft gun like fattys father claims? i really doubt that this is even possible, especially with clear walmart guns.
|
Daddy was probably thinking airguns as 90% of these people can't tell or won't know the difference between airguns vs airsoft and in some cases, real steel. And yes, they can kill animals like rodents.
|
There is so much stupididty going on anymore , some incidents are so stupid its as if someone actually hires people to perpetrate these acts in an effort to get airsoft banned , there have even been times when coming to this site I see the way some talk,... & think someone coming here for the first time would not get a very good impression ...
|
Next time some whiny brat comes here and cries about why he can't have a gun, I am linking to that article!
|
:(......that is all.
|
Maybe it's just me, but in general this seems like they're more focused on the fact that the school doesn't want to do anything about the bullying going on, then that 'airsoft weapons' were used.
|
The Dad was also on the local news asking to "Ban" Airsoft guns. And I have seen an Aug. shooting 425fps kill a Chicken,on full auto. And would you belive he ate it too.
|
I know a solution, stop walmart or Canadian Tires sales of airsoft guns. This way situations like this wont happen.
|
ANY airgun I've seen sold at wal-mart or can. tire requires the purchaser to be 18+ anyway. As long as these companies employees are doing their jobs, these kids shouldn't have had access to these, unless they were property of the "adult" in the vehicle, in which case he should be charged to the furthest extent of the law. ESPECIALLY for giving them to minors. IN FACT, I believe someone should be defending our side of the arguement. Pellet guns have almost NO use except target practice, and they are still widely available. We are trying to evolve this sport, and because of some dumb-ass kids, might get our guns banned? Who's to say they won't just switch to higher power, metal projectile firearms? You can get hollowpoint pellets, I don't see anything that destructive coming out of an airsoft gun.

Chubby kid prolly had it coming

I don't see why they don't release the name of the adult involved, I mean YCJA privacy and all that other bullshit and all but this is an adult we're talking about. Frontal lobe has probably developed to the point where he can gauge if it's a smart decision or not.
As well why aren't they being prosecuted by the crown for assault with firearm (or at least assault with a weapon)? If it was used in the commission of a crime they are treated as if they were the real thing so why not? I think that someone involved has some sort of political connections or the police would be all over their ass. |
Both Walmart and Canadian Tire have policies to check age verification before selling Airsoft Guns (at least this is how it worked, when I bought a Swiss knife there last). Kids will always be idiots, if it wasn't airsoft guns it would've been something else.
60% of the blame falls on the employee who sold them the airsoft guns without checking for id. But then again, who says being 18+ gives a person common sense. |

This sorta thing happens in my neighborhood and I am very displeased with these a-holes. Our community in my country is also having a hard time vying for the legality of airsoft and when things like these happen it gives us a bad rap. There was also an incident where it was used for robbery and the media was all over it like it was a weapon of evil. Its also included in the gun ban here since it the election period so i haven't played for months. I say we kidnap these creeps and give them an airsoft firing squad.

If the 'bullies' beat the shit out of the kid with baseball bats would the father be crying out to ban Baseball?
I have been shot by a paint ball gun from a moving vehicle (bad neighborhood at night) and I am still alive, and believe me that paintball hurt ALOT more then any peppering of airsoft bb's. I got reported for "cyber-bullying" (apparently kicking somebody from a game of counterstrike because you don't like them is bullying) in school. If the kid had hardened the fuck up and socked me I would have had a lot more respect for him... I would have kicked the crap out of him but still. That kid looks like he gets on people's nerves and when he gets razzed for it cries to his dad. Not saying he deserved it but anytime kids premeditate something (like this drive by) they probably have a reason for it. The kid going to his parents then admitting he is scared to go back to class because of one kid is bull. Maybe he should strike first, throw a fist or two and accept his punishment. tl;dr Not saying he deserved it, but maybe he should man up. |
For a minute, I thought it was the same ass who made this thread:

Now we all agreed that this story was bad press material for airsoft, throwing knives into this kind of story would make politicians, police and soccer moms go apeshit. It's already taboo to have a knife in your pocket day-in day-out. There hasn't been a big enough incident lately to endanger the current situation on knives. Let's not suggest people to fuck that up. |
I agree its just every kid in my school seems to have them, yet no one bothers to pick fights because its a rural school
but i watched people stop bugging another person because they saw the knife in there pocket all well aside someone needs to learn karate or kickboxing in the near future :p |

Hands down, the school has to take a position in issues like this. Simply shoving it aside like its no big deal only enforces an impression that these kids can get away with anything. Problem is that society has taken away the right to punish and discipline kids making it almost illegal. Kids who either don't know or don't care about right or wrong have more power over adults thanks to soccer mom's who think every kid is like their perfect little angel and nobody has the right to even raise their voice over a whisper. Pathetic. |

I'm just kidding. Kids that do stuff like that really strike a nerve with me. Growing up I was a bit chubby and have been picked on so I know how he feels. I however toughened up, dealt with it and now I know how to handle it when people in the real life are douche bags. People are going to be dicks to you no matter where you are and that's where that nice mug of concrete comes in. Deal with it and move on. |
