Merrell Sawtooths

Anyone have a lead on them in Canada haven't been able to find them anywhere here in the GTA.

ex July 20th, 2010 15:34

These are not available in Canada. You must either Have them purchased for you in the states and shipped up here or go there yourself to buy them. They are not available for export.

On another note these are by far the best Hiker boot I have owned to date.

dutchydoc July 20th, 2010 15:50

Actually, you can get these shipped from the United States from the following on-line retailer. Yes, they do make it here and the store knows nothing about any export law regarding them.

I know two people that have ordered from here and received there boots. I also just ordered a pair myself.

ex July 20th, 2010 15:56

Actually it's not a law it's an export restriction imposed by Merrell themselves for tax purposes as it was explained to me by Merrell Canada. If you can buy them direct now it's a new thing. Good stuff.

dutchydoc July 20th, 2010 15:59

Yeah, my friends both ordered them about a week ago and received them this week.
The company apparently is one of the few that ships them to Canada. Maybe they have some kind of deal worked out with Merrell or something.

TechSeller July 20th, 2010 16:02

Looks like a great boot. I will be in D.C. in a couple weeks and will definitely check them out.

ex July 20th, 2010 16:04

This boot has exceeded all my expectations of it. It's super comfy and the traction is second to none. There's a reason it's the boot of choice for quite a few spec ops units.

I agree!!!!

Kokanee July 20th, 2010 16:52

For anyone in the NCR/Gat/Montreal/Thousand Islands region, if you hit up a "Tru Value" store across the border they always stock Merrel's full line. I picked up a pair of Continum's a few years back from Ogdensburg.

Tom Swift July 20th, 2010 17:10

Merrell sizing is constant through out all their boots? So I should be able to size up with any comparable mid top hiker? Then when my family goes to the States in a couple weeks they can pick me up a pair. Sound about right guys?

Danke July 20th, 2010 18:47

I just got some intercepts and they felt way different in the same sizes vs. moabs so if you're a half size one way or the other you might change between models.

Assault Pioneer July 20th, 2010 19:00

what aren't they for export?

EDIT:

ah, I'm assuming this is why

ex July 20th, 2010 19:20

No No it has nothing to do directly with the Government. Believe it or not the laws surrounding the trade of shoes and boots across the US Canada border is very intricate. Merrell does not sell it's entire collection in Canada. Thats it..it has nothing to do with these being super boots used by spec ops operators. Just good old NAFTA.

Really that's balls I guess I'll be just cross my fingers. Do they stretch out at all? That would give a little more freedom on sizing.

ex July 20th, 2010 21:12

Go a 1/2 size larger and you should be just fine.

Good call I'll wear thing socks when sizing as I'll normally be wearing thicker ones when actually hiking.

Danke July 20th, 2010 22:51

The fit is down to the design of the shoe, the moabs have a big open toe box but the intercepts are a lot narrower, almost like a climbing/scrambling shoe. If you got size X in the one and thinds were just right the same size in the other could be too tight/loose. I'm wel over getting shoes to grow into.

I've ordered a pair they're a day or two out from being in my hands. Hopefully they didn't bullshit me and send me the wrong pair.

Chingyul April 26th, 2012 01:12

Not sure if you really had to resurrect the thread, but I'll add this anyways.
Shoe-buy carries them as well. Decent shipping rates and they always put out coupons.

I loved mine and put them through quite a bit of hiking.
Do plan to buy another pair at some point (although, enjoying my Lowa Zephyr's right now and may pick up the non-GTX version).

epic necro, cool story bro!!!

T_A_N_K May 12th, 2012 20:21

I picked up a pair of these from shoe buy, they told me from what they have heard they might be discontinued. They fit like a glove on my feet and are extremely comfortable. Might order an additional pair or two to stock up as I have a hard time finding shoes that are comfortable and fit properly.

ex May 12th, 2012 20:25

They are still my favourite boot..I am planning on wearing them when I run the Spartan race next month as well...I just ordered a second pair last week from shoebuy.com myself..just so I know I have a spare set...

T_A_N_K May 12th, 2012 20:28

Do you remember how much it was landed Ex? I got mine sent to a friend stateside and he brought it back for me.

ex May 12th, 2012 20:33

I got my first pair almost 4 years ago..it was 200 bucks with all the damn shipping...This new set I just had sent to Ogdensburg New York UPS shipping office and I go and pick em up.

MASAKO May 12th, 2012 20:55

I bought mine about 2 years ago, it comes out about 150 $ with tax and shipping from shoe-store.net

One thing I can complaint off is that it's kinda getting slippery where I work. More or less, it's more like everyday go boot from summer to winter, indoor and outdoor game unless heavy snow or mountain game in winter then my other Merrell will do the job.

Oh ! yeah, it's not waterproof but more like water resistant.

hope it help.
