How to get lower FPS

Hello,
My airsoft mp5 fires around 440FPS stock
How do I lower the veolicity ?
Thanks for the input guys

medhatboy September 14th, 2010 21:00

change the spring

Eldin September 14th, 2010 21:26

Sorbo pads!
Decrease the fps, and decrease the noise!

Getting a new spring is the best long term option though...

SteveAnderson September 14th, 2010 21:47

thank you gentlemen.
any suggestions as to where I should buy new springs ?
I have a G&G mp-5.

A sorbo pad will not decrease FPS.

I am gona assume you picked up one of the Mp5 MAX guns? if so it should have come with a spare spring that will drop the fps to about 350ish

a pad made out of Sorbothane that absorbs shock to help reduce/prevent the dreaded V2 gearbox cracking.

this might help you... -->http://www.airsoftcanada.com/SpringChart.php

L473ncy September 15th, 2010 04:54

That chart is old but still pretty good. I talked to Illusion and he isn't going to be updating it because of too many things to do (I may do it in the future when I have some time but who knows when that will be between a job, school, and student loans).

I'd say that you should try and go with a Modify S110 to get around 380 or whatever it is (that is unless you have another spring that came with the gun).

NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD WATCH A FEW VIDEOS OF HOW TO CHANGE THE SPRING BEFORE YOU DO THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME. Or ask a gundoc to show you how it's done (Also if they're willing to do it for free it might be a good idea to bring a pizza and a 6 pack).

Also at such a high FPS the gears will likely strip (even if they are torque up gears) I highly doubt that they are good enough to withstand such high forces. So Modify S120 and S110 are exactly what you should be looking for.

CDN_Stalker September 15th, 2010 07:35

The Modify 100 will set a gun to around 360-370, depending on other upgrades (ei. bearing spring guide, tightbore, longer barrel, etc.)

Its not like these things are new technology.
Theyve been around for like 3 years at least and highly publicised.

Its not like you need to know what is a sorbo pad to fix a gearbox.

Yeah, but even non gun docs are likely to know what a sorbo pad is. It stands to reason that you've come upon them while opening up a grearbox or two.

ThunderCactus September 15th, 2010 19:59

STOP IT. Just stop it. Now he knows, let it go.

Amos September 15th, 2010 20:16
