My latest custom : C8A3 GBB
Hello, at last it is complete, thanks to a few guys from Canada - may a 1000 angels protect you from harm (and small arms).
The base is the KJ Works M4 and that's why the pictures show it with the obsolete Thermomold magazines. A firm in the US is working on USGI mags so until then... The pictures : http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture006.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture008.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture009.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture011.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture012.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture014.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture015.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture016.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture019.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture022.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture023.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture024.jpg Steel Outer barrel with Simon sleeve refinished in a darker shade, as per RS pictures 4 position stock (RS Diemaco) Recoil butt pad (RS Diemaco) Sling plate (RS, no brand) Ambidextreous magazine catch (RS Diemaco) Ambidextreous Fire selector (KJ Works + RS) Ambidextreous charging handle latch (RS Diemaco) Forward tri-mount TRIAD (RS Diemaco) Sling (RS Diemaco) CAR handguards (RS Diemaco, painted green as on many C8s - do they use molded green handguards now ?) Green pistol grip (RS Diemaco) Optical accessories that can be installed on the rifle - DIS (RS Diemaco) - BUIS (RS Diemaco) - Eotech 552 (Hurricane) - C79A2 Elcan (Samurai) Hope you like... Maybe one day I'll find the correct right side fire selector... Best Vincent |
As I told you, I love it Vincent! :)

Hello
Small update on the project : I wasn't super happy with the barrel finish - it was a real poor job from the chinese factory. But because the barrel is steel, it was possible to refinish it. This was achieved by sanding the finish off, back to bare steel. I then parkerized it myself with a home made manganese based phosphate solution (the same as Diemaco uses). The darker shade of the sleeve was achieved, like on the RS, by making the protective layer thicker than on the barrel itself. Not too bad for an home made job... http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture001.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...Picture002.jpg I'll post pictures of the whole gun later - it now has the proper laser designator (the basic model) Best regards from Finland Vincent |
Lovely!
|
Nice one! Look identical as the real one! It only miss the Canadian C8 body ;P
|
very very nice.
I want to build one of these. is there a retailer selling the RS furniture somewhere? A C8 GBBR would be a nice build :) |
Good work man.

I have a third one in the work, with correct body markings this time. It will based on a Vipertech M4, custom markings done by Vipertech before the anodising is done, steel barrel and so on. I'll post pictures... V |
Hi
Well, got pictures from Viper Tech of my custom lower receiver. It's close but no cigar so they'll be doing another one. The faulty one : http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a.../vipertech.jpg They also repeated the selector markings on the right side of the receiver which is not correct for the C8. They are really super friendly so I should finally be able to get a super accurate C8A3 GBBR... Vincent |

http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/DSCN1687.jpg It's been anodized today and will be shipped to me on Wednesday. Will show you the results soon ! ;) Vincent |
Sooooo fucking awsome!
|
|
Wow nice looks great good job on the custom build. Looks comparable to the real ones.
|
awesome!
|
wow that looks beautiful.
|
Thanks guys !
Next step is to modify a WA steel outer barrel to take the FTHB extension and seems that we are set... Vincent |
looks spot on. very impressive.
and to answer your question from the first post yes they are using the molded OD plastics on all of the furnitures now |
Hi
More progress (they did a new lower receiver because the one I posted pictures earlier was off specs) http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/IMG_0610.jpg Still working on the outer barrel problem I'll also get soon the correct receiver extension lock ring (not the castle nut as used on the M4) V |
wow very good stuff!! how much did the lower run you? i wish we could get a lower like that in country...
|
God damn that is a fine piece.
|
Hi !
The C8A3 based pn the Viper M4 is nearly finished. The outer barrel is been modified as we speak so it will be installed soon but I don't have it yet. http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...rgant/c8a3.jpg My RS Elcan has received its green rubber sleeve so it it is now a C79A2, well extrenally speaking since the mount is still a C79 one (not too important as both bases are externally identicals) Then a Canadian PRR H4855 modded. The internals of the PRR module has been gutted and rewired for my Cavalvy set and my Motorola radio. Works like a charm and is externally correct http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...organt/prr.jpg Hope you like it ! As for the earlier question, the custom receiver was around 200usd with port included... Vincent |
Hello
The end of the saga. The rifle is finished & works great ! The pictures (only missing the early type receiver extension lock ring that is coming soon) : http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_0625.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_0626.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_0628.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_0629.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_0630.jpg http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_0631.jpg And the final, go Canada, go ! http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_0632.jpg Components of the custom Real steel parts : Elcan C79 & green cover (thanks to a member in ASC) BUIS Charging handle & latch Furnitures (grip, stock & handguards) Handguards cap (round) Butt pad Receiver extension, buffer stop & sling plate Tri-Ad Sling Cleaning kit (complete) Gas tube Sling ViperTech parts: Receiver W/internals Front sight Buffer & spring Aftermarket parts: Ambicatch (G&P) Ambidextreous fire selector (G&P) Outer barrel (Dragon Red steel barrel + Element customized) Laser designator (G&P) This will probably be my last C8A3 custom as i'm 100% satisfied with the look and feel of the gun. Hope you like it ! Best regards from Finland Vincent |
that looks excellent, good job
|
Looks great and very authentic, but you should do something about that pressure switch wire for the PAQ4. Try wrapping it around the handguards once, or get some tape to secure it.
|

Thanks for the compliment, coming from a serving CF member, it means a lot ! I normally tape the pressure switch to the tactical grip but dit not have it installed at the time... ;) V |
Damn you Vince, you know how to put everyone else's to shame!
