|
lol, didn't see that one.
|
Wa 2000!!!! :p

Don't really care what the finish looks like, as long as it is wood it can be refinished. Just hoping for a good solid reliable game worthy platform. |
Yes, a decently priced gameable K98 would be a winner.
|
Quote:
anyways a mag fed spring kar98 or a mag fed gas kar98 would be good, no more shitty shells please. but yes, wood wood be nice (couldn't resist), though knowing G&G i'd wager a guess it'd be plastic...... |

Go to minute 13 to see the G98k And yes, it is CO2 powered, has a 8 gram cartridge in the magazine, which i think is an 8 round mag I think. Real wood stock as well, and apparently shoots 430ish with .20's. Going to be released sometime in Juneish? |
Any new news on this? Starting up a german kit and I dont think I could bear without a K98.

I was actually talking to Pouches earlier about it. I was thinking of starting up a team myself, but if there is something already available i'd be more than happy to join in. Hoping to have a kit assembled completely by the end of the month.
|
Glad to see just another one jumping into the WW2 bandwagon! :D
|
There is no OFFICIAL ww2 airsoft groups in Winnipeg... but I am the leader of the un-official, official Wehrmacht team in Manitoba. If there is enough interest to have a real team... then we will get one going!
|
I imagine a good flood of german impressions might come of its release, I pray. It's a lonely western front out here for this allie.
|
Any news on the thing? I heard promise of release this october, but G&G has been awefully quiet.
Thanks! |

Latest news that I'm aware of.:( |
i know this isn't the best place to ask this but how many WWII players are in total in manitoba?
|
6ish-9ish... active/building kits. Maybe..... Very rough estimate. Probably more like 3-4 active with 1 or two building kits.
But if you live in Mb, and are interested, you can pm me about WW2 themed team that's in the process of being formed. |
i recently sent an email to g&g asking them iof there was any news about the realease of the gun, today they sent me an email saying that it will be released this month... lets just hope it is... would make nice christmas present!
|
Really now? Hmmm. Hopefully they dont charge out of their ass for it simply because its a K98. Fucking hate it when they do that.
|
well if anybody wants to see the reply here it is, and yeah, that would suck real bad.
Thank you for your mail. The G98K will be released this monthJ If we have any news , we will put the information on our website. http://www.guay2.com/web/news.php?lang=en Best Regards, G&G ARMAMENT Amo Chen sales7@guay2.com Tel: +886 4 798 9000 Fax: +886 4 798 9900 www.guay2.com i never understood why their website was guy2.com? did somone already take G&G.com? |

Yup!
I have one already pre-ordered. Should be in Canada sometime during March, if all is well. |

|
Yes
|
Hell, it's like 400$ in Asia. of course it,s going to be higher here.
|

|
|
Love your German Breakdance :)
|
well is the price more affordable than the marushin (not to sure if thats the other avalaible k98)? and i guess we'll have to wait to see the quality then right?
|

|
The only really other game worthy K98 would be the Tanaka, all others are are junk without heavily modding a VSR-10 into.
The G&G is far more affordable and 10x easier to get then the Tanaka. Though the G&G is a Tanaka clone, it is hard to say how it will perform until some reviews start showing up. |
Quote:
|
I'm just wondering about magazine compatibility of the Tanaka. I have 5 of those and if they work it will definitely add to the decision to pick one of these up.
I'm not too sure on the availability of those 8 gram Co2 cartridges although they will be much more reliable. Anyone know the minimum effective operating temperature of Co2 rifles, namely bolt actions? |
I think the manufacture of Tanaka Kar98's have stopped a long while ago.
While the Dboys kar98 is around, its useless without putting work and dedication into it. Kinda funny, but there seems to be a trend, that asian airsoft companies keep alternating between the spring/gas shell-ejector system, followed by the gas/internal magazine method . Like every 2 year Marushin Kar98 Tanaka Dboys and now G&G Whats next?! I own(ed) the previous three before, but this time won't be going for the G&G haha Quote:
I hope I'm wrong! |
Red wolf has Tanaka listed as in stock.

http://kidder.ca/education/car-kits/...ster-cars.html Scroll down, lots of bulk sizes... |
8g CO2 sparklets are sold at kitchenware stores found in malls. They are used to charge kitchen items such as whipped cream dispensers.
N2Ocomes in the same size 8g sparklet for the same kitchen purpose. Haven't the foggiest if N2O would be good or bad for the G & G G980 Edit: meant N2O not NO2....last time I was in a chemistry class I had a full head of hair and owned a Sony Walkman. |
N2O will oxidise and cause the metals to deteriorate faster I think...
N2O is all gas, while CO2 is liquid->gas so CO2 can also store more. |
I certainly wouldn't be up to NO2 experimentation myself with a G980.
I mentioned the NO2 to be clear when asking for the sparklets from a salesperson in a shop. Either of these sparklets tend to be behind the counter and not on a self serve shop shelf (from my experience) in kitchenware shop. |
http://stores.ebay.ca/co2n20suppliesico
They recently relisted their 8 gram CO2's too :D, cheaper than Kidder. |

See how well I keep up with airsoft knews! http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=71803 Never heard they came back :D |
I didn't even know they got raided. I remember a while back they got in shit because someone managed to get their 50 cal revolver to fire off 2 rounds, but didn't know they were shut down.
I know that if this G&G rifle is a bust, I may turn to this as another option. |
Don't jinx it man!
Keep the bad vibes away, away I say! AWAY!!!!!!!!!! If all else fails, I hope RA-Tech will have aftermarket parts to make this beauty shine. |
Well... For those interested...

How would you go about ejecting the spent magazine? Would seem a bit a bit awkward to pick that out through the open bolt. Unless there is some sort of ejector. I dunno!
Anyone got one of these in country yet? |
Quote:
//sent on my smartphone, I apologized for any unchecked spellcheck// |
yeah, you still need to eject the entire magazine, change the bb holder and reinsert said holder followed by the magazine....kind of a lot of steps there.
but I'm still buying one!!! |
could it be possible to load from the top with the mag in place? with a BB loader?
maybe? |
I wish, but you have to trigger the small latch that seems really small to trigger through the bolt opening
|
word on the street (on facebook) is that its a poor quality airsoft gun... though I have not found any 'legit' reviews myself.
|
Poor quality vs. a real 1898 mauser karabiner or poor quality for an airsoft gun?
Because if it comes down to a bit of tweak on a sear, replacing some o-rings, and getting a custom walnut stock made then I pretty much don't care. If valves are soft and covered in flash though.. then we have a problem. |

NOT sure what FPS mag he is using... He may be using the higher FPS mag from Land Warrior Airsoft though.... FPS test G&G G980 review.mpg - YouTube Shows maybe some Quality Control issue with the mags? |

Dimensions are 5 cm x 4 cm x 2 cm Fits perfect in my Pioneer pouch's pockets for Kar98 clips... Hopefully I get the Kar98 soon :D |
Wouldn't changing the clips out be a pain on the field?
|
not as much as carrying 4 or 5 mags. This would definitely be worth it IMO.
|
Switching the bb part is REALLY simple...
HOWEVER, I have 2 mags, and one of them I get the EXACT same problem as this guy at 12:30.... FPS test G&G G980 review.mpg - YouTube I will probably have to drill a hole later in that second mag.... The other mag, the CO2 comes out without any effort... The paper it says it is shooting 430 fps at 0.2g bbs..... But that is way off from what I'm getting..... I'm guessing the CO2 charges they use might be different pressures? It weighs like a whole metal airsoft pistol? lol I am gonna buy the 380 FPS mags once they come out of course... And I am gonna try some N2O's to see if they make any differences haha.... REALLY bad quality control if my second mag also has the same problem T.T The mags are definitely heavier than my WE M4 mags.... Also heavier than my buddy's heavy ACM WA M4 mags if there's much of a difference? lol... Wood looks really NICE, better than Ehobby's bad pictures lol. |

Tomorrow when I get some sunlight so my crappy phone camera can get better pictures :P
|
I didn't think it was available untill March?
|
Quote:
It's been available in Asia for over a month now though, so can be custom imported already. Shipping itself only takes a week or even less I guess, rest of the time it's in customs lol... CO2 is too unpredictable FPS and ungameable until I can get my hands on the sub 400 FPS magazines... Until then, I have N2O 8 grams on the way that have lower PSI than CO2, although FPS will probably drop much faster, hopefully it will allow it to be gameable haha... (I don't mind changing the charger every 2-3 reloads if it works) |
Some Pics? lol...
http://www.orbsidia.com/g980/1.JPG http://www.orbsidia.com/g980/2.JPG http://www.orbsidia.com/g980/3.JPG http://www.orbsidia.com/g980/4.JPG http://www.orbsidia.com/g980/5.JPG http://www.orbsidia.com/g980/6.JPG http://www.orbsidia.com/g980/7.JPG Kar98 weighs about 7.4 lbs Magazine weighs approx. 1.6 lbs Magnet test shows mix of Steel and I guess "Aluminum?" Outer Barrel, Mag Catch, Rear Sight, Fake cleaning rod, Trigger are NOT Steel I guess... Some weak magnetic pull can be detected around the bolt itself, so I'm guessing inside it may be Steel... Front Sight is Steel, Metal Butt is steel... Magazine, only the BB area is steel, and some weak magnetic pull can be felt on the side of the mag, which may be the tube where the CO2 travels... Chromy thing you see on the bolt in the pics seems to be just some paint on either cheap metal, or maybe even plastic lol... But that part I think is just for looks. |
Looking good!
Any early signs of wear on the bolt area/sear? |
Sexy!
Do a review. Do it! :D |
G&G will be updating the bolt on their K98, anyone who purchased the "V1" K98 is to contact an authorized dealer.
See here: http://www.guay2.com/web/news.php?lang=en |
Thanks!
Emailed the retailer I bought it from.... Although I already swapped mine out for a pure steel one long ago T.T I mainly want lower FPS mags T.T Everyone I asked.... Jeff, and Landwarrior still have not received any yet... Was supposed to come last month, now supposedly one month delay and still no sign of them either... |
So just an update, G&G replied and is giving me a free replacement although the one I have may possibly be better :D
At the same time, they have 380 FPS mags in stock, and are going to ship 2 of them to me (paying for it of course). So in a week or so, my Kar98 maybe gameable!!!! |
Wow that's amazing from G&G! Accepted they had a shitty bolt and replacing it for free.
Can't wait to see this thing fire under 400 fps :) Post vids! |
Personally, I'd keep this thing firing at ~450. Reason being that when youre going up against people with f/a aeg's, I want them to know they've been hit. Besides, its a boltie.
|
Any field reports on using the K98 from G&G? Got one coming finally...!
|
Last time I brought it out to a WW2 game just for show :D
Didn't have the new CO2 mags yet, have them now but haven't had time to play with it due to a huge increase in responsibilities for my job, and didn't want to waste a whole CO2 cartridge on a few shots :D I already bought Green Gas mags in Taiwan, waiting on my GF to bring them back for me (in a week or so)... They had like 5 choices in Green Gas FPS... I chose the second lowest just in case since the standard CO2 ones were rated ~400 FPS, but I was shooting 600 FPS haha... |
I've been playing with one in my basement on CO2. Shoots about 480. Nice and consistent. Seems to peter out over a dozen or so shots when the CO2 runs out.
I had to import the 8g cartridges too. Kinda pricey. |
you can get the cartridges on ebay.ca they are in bc i think. i found my co2 lasted many rounds.
|
Mine lasted at least 100 too. But rather then die over the course of a couple shots, it starts to get weaker slowly.
|
i will say the quality of the steel is not as good as the tanaka. The Tanaka wins my vote in every respect except in velocities you can get.
