Tactical Gloves

Hey guys, im in the market looking for a decent pair of tactical gloves.
Anyone got a nice pair that they have been using for sometime and can vouch for it?
Please share.
I need something, not too rugged but can take a beating, none of the replica stuff please.
Price range 30-40$?

Tex January 13th, 2011 18:37

Mechanix The Original $25 work/feel great

thpethalK January 13th, 2011 18:47

mechanix mpact 30-40 ymmv

TraumaGuy January 13th, 2011 18:51

I highly vouch for HATCH SPECIALIST NS430 POLICE/SHOOTING GLOVES. Bought them off eBay for $15.99 USD. Just replaced a pair (within the last month) that lasted me for the past 6 years. Only replaced them as the velcro was wearing out. Very durable, great brand, and great for airsoft.

lonesniper January 13th, 2011 18:52

yeah, mechanix are the best.

Eien January 13th, 2011 18:55

Mechanix gloves are great. Got a pair of M-pact 2 gloves, feels great, protects great :)

I have some Blackhawk FURY gloves, love them to bits. Managed to get them on sale for $40.

ShelledPants January 13th, 2011 19:25

Mechanix The Original, $25 at Canadian Tire.

slad3d January 13th, 2011 19:32

sound like people love their mechanix, I'll go check them out.

Check out Mark's Work Warehouse too, I got a pair of work gloves that are black and OD, with yellow rubber impact zones on the knuckles for about $25, just paint the yellow parts and they work great, almost as good as aviator gloves but with extra pading in the right places.

BobbyDangerous January 13th, 2011 20:00

I have a pair of these

Jimski January 13th, 2011 20:25

I have a pair of Shooter2 from Woodland Industries, I can't find them on the internet.
very good gloves, a lot like mechanix , less fancy .

rc_p120 January 13th, 2011 21:44

LOVE the Mechanix. The more basic the better, I find the large 'impact' bulky armoured gloves give you way less dexterity. One downside is Mechanix gloves are not very good in wet or snowy weather, fyi.

I use these gloves all the time on and off the airsoft field and they are a great value. Do yourself a favour and buy them on eBay though, Crappy Tire rips you off like mad.

You gotta look out for the CT sales man...they have mechanix on sale at least twice a year, I bought my last pair at 50%

A bit of tan or brown spray paint on them to mask the yellow in the trims and they would be perfect, color wise.

Death March January 14th, 2011 00:18

I went through 2 pair of the Mechanix gloves, and for the past 3 or so years I'v been using the same pair of Oakley Factory pilot gloves and the have a nice tight fit so you can feel everything you need to and none of the stuff you don't want too ie. the back of your hand. But,they do cost a bit more! You get what you pay for though right.

Would defiantly vouch for Mark's Work Warehouse, good quality, as it's been stated, Mechanix are great to, but if you want a decent selection Marks all the way

Skladfin January 14th, 2011 00:37

mechanix is okay. It sort of lacks grip compared to some other gloves I find.

lupo January 14th, 2011 08:59

Ive used mechanix gloves at work before and they suck , I havent had a pair last more then a month. For airsoft I dont think I would buy them as the issues are the same , the material used on the finger tips is thin and wears quickly. The seam on the fingers is in a bad location and seems to blow out alot aswell.
Ive used issued nomex flight gloves for airsoft for 13 years and Ive only gone through 2 pairs of them. They wear really well and are a decent price.

panzergrenadier January 14th, 2011 09:07

Vickers Combat Gloves... not the cheapest (in fact pretty expensive) But I Love them!
http://vickerstactical.com/larry-vic...series-gloves/

Gerkraz January 14th, 2011 09:21

+1 to the Vickers Combat Gloves. I love mine and I expect them to last the predicted 50,000 years of nuclear winter.

slad3d January 14th, 2011 11:32

"The palm is an artisan table cut from a selected grade of water repellent kidskin."

quoted from the vickers site. Am I the only one confused at this description lol?
artisan table? kidskin? 8-O

Danke January 14th, 2011 11:45

Kid skin = goat skin. A favorite for gloves since it's light, supple, but very durable. Wasn't One Shot Tactical doing the Vickers ones?

I've been wearing Hatch Operators for the last couple years and liking them.

Farmboy January 14th, 2011 11:47

We were carrying the Vickers gloves, but they were made by EOTAC, who we have dropped.

Brian McIlmoyle January 14th, 2011 12:20

Gloves

Always a balance between dexterity and durability.

you can spend significant money on top end gloves that afford great dexterity but they won't last any longer than a glove that is marginally more bulky and 1/3 the cost.

I run Mechanix , check Marks also for their Dakota line I have a pair of insulated ones I have been wearing for 3 winters.. daily and using for AS .. and RS shooting.. I did wear the tip off the left index finger off ( 1st layer of leather so still no hole) loading magazines... but they have lasted 2 times as long as I expected

Kwokwai January 14th, 2011 12:47

Mechanix MPact, MPact 2 for me.

You can also purchase a set with hard knuckle protection, the MPact 3 (http://www.mechanix.com/racing/m-pact-3-glove). Sold out in the US but still available here in Canada.

AoiShikaku January 14th, 2011 12:58

I use any of my motorcycle gloves. Best part about them is that they are made to bend and give you all the added protection from taking a BB to your knuckles.

A good pair will have every major joint protected, but can run up the cost since they aren't exactly made for airsoft =p

FOX_111 January 14th, 2011 13:16

Most of the time, I use weight lifting gloves that have the fingers cut. (came like this).
The padding is in the palm and I like them. Especially for sniping.

For CQB use, I use my hybrid glove with the kevlar liner inside. They are confy and durable, yet thin enough to manipulate firearms. But it's overkill. I use them only because I had them for my job.

Crunchmeister January 14th, 2011 14:36

My favourite gloves to date are Manzella SWAT 10. They're a little more expensive (about $75 I think) but have been the most durable and comfortable tactical gloves I've tried to date. They provide excellent to the fingers and knuckles from hits, are flexible, and thin enough that you still have good dexterity.

phloudernow January 14th, 2011 15:47

I use a pair of tan Oakley SI Assault Gloves, its a great buy i must say, they arent bulky and feel nice to wear, only part that some might consider bulky is the knuckle gaurd. however mine is an ACM replica but still an amazing buy as ive been using them for a while now. very durable and highly recommend it to others

Yeah i bought em as a spare of the moment thing i have another pair of actual shooting gloves i got from the surplus. And yeah the index is weird but i mostly got them cause they'd be warmer.. They suck holding a pistol

SKI January 14th, 2011 19:43

Keep in mind that the Mechanix gloves on Ebay are most likely knock offs. I used to sell the Mechanix brand and they are not cheap. I loved them but switched to nomex flight gloves which felt better. I also use the Hatch Operators which have lasted for the last two years so far with no splits in the seams or frayed threads. I think gloves are more subjective to the wearer. One may like certain features over others. The best thing to do is try them on and see how you like them. If you want a second opinion, ask around after you try them on. There has to be a reason a lot of operators wear the nomex flight gloves besides being readily available to them.

zone 69 January 14th, 2011 20:14

Im useing a pair of CF leather gloves with three fingers cut off.

Durt cheap at 10-12$ a pair and will last forever well not forever but you get my drift.

iballBRODY January 14th, 2011 20:23

I got my Mechanic M-pact 2 for 14 bucks on sale at canada tire, they have rubber on the knuckles and fingers with various padding.

Loathing January 14th, 2011 20:38

I use a pair of SOLAG Heavy Duty Kevlar gloves. Lightweight, great dexterity, pretty good fit and no movement (slipping?) with them. Only downside is that they're expensive if you get them retail.

http://www.blackhawk.com//CatalogIma...54-IMG1_L.jpeg

Before that I used to use a set of CADPAT CF leather gloves, made a decent set of gunners gloves on the ranges.

slad3d January 16th, 2011 21:29

I'm in the reserve so i have all the cf gloves available to me,
but they are not really the best gloves imo.
so im looking to get a pair that's perfect for me.
Just finished an exercise up north and i realized that I really do need 2 pairs. one winter and one summer.
summer probably will be thin and give me all the dexterity i need while the winter one
is a balance between the dexterity and warmth.

tygr701 January 17th, 2011 00:43

I use the Oakley SI Assault gloves in black as well. They're a really good quality pair of gloves and well made. Would definitely recommend them.

Dohpaz January 17th, 2011 12:19

I'm actually going to order a pair of these (color/size might change). They look like a pretty decent clone.

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.50356

FOX_111 January 17th, 2011 12:38

Be advised that Deal Xtreme is known to sell replica stuff.

One of my friend found out the hard way.

Dohpaz January 17th, 2011 12:46

Exactly, hence why I said they looked like a pretty decent clone ;)

Cheesevillage January 18th, 2011 22:05

I just got some hatch SOG 750s--they seem quite nice for $60 shipped.

My previous gloves are $10 manzellas and a (actually quite nice) $12 pair of hatchish clones.

Anyways, we'll see how these hatch gloves pan out. I'll update when I have more info.

EDIT: to OP: check eotac vickers on ebay. sub $40 gloves--I have no experience with them but they look nice enough.

5kull January 19th, 2011 17:31

Whatever you buy, make sure your fingernails are protected, damn it hurts when you get a bb right on a fingernail:)

Aww Muffin

Don't bother with repligear. go to Mechanix before you wast money on crap gloves made to look like expensive ones.

Every pair I have ever seen self destruct within 10 wearings

McCrea January 19th, 2011 21:24

+1 on the Manzella Swat 10, great gloves and they protect very well!

:P

Specs January 19th, 2011 22:21

Ive used watson work gloves and 5.11 tactical gloves....watson gloves FTW they were 10 times better......watson for 15 bucks or 5.11 for 60, its an easy choice

Cheesevillage January 19th, 2011 23:08

WTF LOL. One day of light use and my Hatch gloves have a slight rip on one finger.

I guess I'll keep on searchin' for that heart of gold...

Hoarday January 20th, 2011 01:55

I've been wearing those Condor hard knuckle gloves for most of this past year (gamed weekly at the least) with no issues. We'll see how they hold up over longer periods of time, but so far they're not showing any signs of stitches popping or wearing through and I'm pretty rough on them. They're relatively maneuverable I find too, I rarely ever need to take them off to do something while I'm in game.

I'd been using nomex pilot gloves before that, but I didn't find them particularly useful for protecting your fingers and now they're mostly just my work gloves. If protection isn't an issue for you though, they let you maintain your manual dexterity really well. I usually forget I'm wearing them most of the time.

Kid January 20th, 2011 02:09

I use some "Made in Pakistan" SAP gloves. Leather palm/fingers/knuckles with steel shot sewn around the knuckles.

Even with a loose fitting size, I have no problems operating the firing controls on my M1911, M11, or even loading BBs one at a time into a GBB mag.

Drake January 20th, 2011 11:09

Surprised no one's mentioned 'em yet: CamelBak Max Grip NT USMC FROG gloves.

They offer awesome grip and excellent dexterity (enough to work small Chinese radio buttons/controls). Nomex, Kevlar and leather construction. Regular price is anything but cheap, but you can find great deals on eBay sometimes.

slad3d January 20th, 2011 11:38

i used to have a pair of condor 'oakley' replica half fingers glove.
and they did self destruct after 2 rigorous uses. That's why i rather pay an extra 10-20$ than waste more on another pair.

I have the hatch Kevlar search gloves and they protect your hand pretty good, comfortable too! The only problem I have is that the cuff is so tight that after a few hours they start to cut off the circulation to my hands! And because of the cuff being that tight, the seam of the cuff on the left hand glove started to come apart! Other than those two things I love em! I just wish they had the carbon knuckle, but oh well!

So...are the gloves comfortable or do they cutoff your circulation? Those two qualities seem mutually exclusive to me.

You'd be better off with a specific pair of gloves. Search gloves are mean't to protect against cuts and pokes from needles during frisking of suspects and the inside lining is not comfortable for extended wear.
Go with some hatch tactical gloves or mechanix, aviators etc... Your hands will be much more happy.

The gloves are comfortable, it's just after wearing them for extended periods the cuff starts to cut off circulation! If the cuff wasn't so tight they'd be perfect! The lining, after a few games of wear, softens up and they are actually quite comfy on the inside but all in all, I think I may go for the Oakley tactical gloves in the future!

I use any of my motorcycle gloves.
+1 here. They work fine for my airsoft applications. Plus, they've also saved my hands from road rash after a couple of "incidents" while riding.

Moto gloves can work because they basically have a lot of the same features as Tac gloves - Kevlar lined, knuckle/finger protection, gripping surfaces on palm and fingers, ability to work controls with them on, etc. Of course, different gloves have different features.

panzergrenadier January 22nd, 2011 14:47

+1 For Hatch tactical Gloves...
I've had a pair of the Operator CQC gloves for close to 6 years now... the tips of the fingers did wear out after about 2 years... but I cut the fingers to half and they're still rockin'!
And I've used them for everything from Airsoft to Cycling to Military use to Working construction...

**Correction** Hatch Operator CQB....

only if you take them into a fight...
(but same goes for the Oakley SI Tactical gloves then)

I've tried some of these gloves with the buck shot when Army Issue had (maybe still has) them but they felt a little awkward and a bit heavy for gloves.

I really like my Oakley's but over time they do wear out and don't have much grip left. They also got a good soaking at one game and the leather became stiff and lost all tactile grip. The last couple of times wearing them, the black dye started to run.
