Thx matt

where are you located? fill in your profile so we can help you better as some areas it's 18+ or bust!

mattkov January 20th, 2011 19:23

I filled my location !

Conker January 20th, 2011 19:35

Read this, you'll definitely find this interesting: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=117494

Otherwise outside of Quebec city there's not much until you're 18 unfortunately. I'd just say keep your money (don't waste it on crap, like weed or a Civic) so you can get in the right way when you turn 18. Oh, and keep that in mind: less than a year really ain't much. I got interested in airsoft at about 11... waiting was much longuer :P

It is up to the game host to let you play. You can probably join your local game event to see how it's actually like. Again, up to the host.

mattkov January 20th, 2011 19:49

At least im not like the littles noob kids on youtube xD

L473ncy January 21st, 2011 03:08

Just ask, can't hurt to try. I mean at least you're with your brother. If it was some random kid off the street I would be hesitant but if your brother is down to earth and can build some rapport with the other guys I don't see why they wouldn't not let you play, that is unless they do have a strict 18+ only policy (even then sometimes exceptions can be made, ie. an established player decides to bring their kid/nephew/niece out for a day of playing or something). Even if you can't play a year is a lot better than how long I had to wait.

xD

SniperSam January 21st, 2011 09:34

Well youre in Beauce right? Theres an age verifier in St George, maybe you can talk to him, he could let you like watch or help out

Grudge January 21st, 2011 10:12

Bring a camera to a few games and ask if you can take action pictures, gets you in the game without a gun. And players will want your pictures after! It will also show what kind of guy you are!

Are verifiers are just that: they verify ages for 18+ players.

They aren't tour guides or game hosts or legal guardians for minors.

@Mattkov: Most games here (Quebec) are 18+; as Conker mentioned, the Quebec City area has other options. Some hosts MAY allow you to attend if you're accompanied by and under the direct supervision of your brother; many (most?) will not. They'll probably want to meet you first, too, so the camera idea wasn't a bad one. But you'll still probably need to be with your brother.

You should also understand that laws outside of Quebec (all of North America really) are different than in the province (North American laws are based on English Common Law, Quebec laws -- Le Code Civil -- are based on French Civil Law).

And here's a perfect example of why hosts are reluctant to accept minors: http://www.canlii.org/eliisa/highlig...0qccq8069.html

mattkov January 21st, 2011 11:14

Bin oui ca marche

mattkov January 21st, 2011 11:16

Oh well i know why its 18 years old now xD but this can be arranged if i sign a kind of charge that remove all my protection but yeah i know why its 18 +

SniperSam January 21st, 2011 11:18

wasnt trying to suggest that he'd be a legal guardian, maybe he'd know more about the games and rules for the Quebec City/Beauce area

mattkov January 21st, 2011 11:20

I guess one year isnt that bad after all I could just buy my gear and to learn about airsoft in general guns, rules in general , getting friends all that kind of stuff

Thats the advice we give to soon-to-be 18 year olds. Lay back, save up, read, learn, pretty much all there is to it

mattkov January 21st, 2011 11:25

:) and well in one year i have enough time to think about the weapon style: Armalight, Aks , H&k, and of course a pistol (GBB)

SniperSam January 21st, 2011 11:26

Biene sure, and you can also read reviews on here for more info

mattkov January 21st, 2011 11:28

Yep, but im looking for an Ak style weapon + a nade luncher on it haha just for coolness

I know, I just don't like putting the extra workload/responsibility on my verifiers. Verifiers for a region aren't always directly in the region for one, and the help they can offer is the same as any other active player. In this case, he already has his bother playing so I'm sure he's already familiar with all the guns, gear etc.

So really, hosts are the people to talk to. Cuz unless there's a game happening in his local area, it won't matter anyway.

That's the thing, you can sign a waiver but if you get hurt it won't stop an angry parent from suing, as in the posted case. With a parent (or brother) present, it moves responsibility to them -- although due to the nature of the game they can't follow you every second of the day, so it can still be problematic.

Either way, the game schedule is posted here: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/announcement.php?f=70&a=50

Some events are clearly labeled 18+. Some may allow minors as a photographer or if attending with a parent or you brother: you need to talk to the organizer.

mattkov January 21st, 2011 12:04

Thx drake for your help :)

SniperSam January 21st, 2011 12:48

Oh... I see, sorry about that
