That ANZA launcher looks INCREDIBLE

gandar May 30th, 2005 18:19

That's gonna be serious amounts of asskickery... What was the musical score you used on the trailer? I liked it...

zero delay May 30th, 2005 19:07

It's Hans Zimmer, he does alot of movies, and most, if not all, of the Tom Clancy pictures.

Xenos-Fear May 30th, 2005 19:24

It's from the Score of BackDraft. Very good soundtrack and movie also ! :D

FOX_111 May 30th, 2005 19:36

8O
Damn, that's a lot of good work!
Not to mention money!

zero delay May 30th, 2005 19:47

More $ and more work than rational people would commit. ;-)

Gord (Frogman) May 30th, 2005 20:25

And more time too.

gandar May 30th, 2005 20:47

Zimmer rocks. I haven't watched Back Draft, that's why I didn't recognize it....

And lol Zero... I'm gonna do what I can to make it out to this. We'll see what my cousin can get for holidays, since he's the one with the truck.

Ghost Snake May 30th, 2005 21:07

Awesome! I definitely want to go to this. Just curious, what would you use that ANZA for. I dont think my ANSI Z87 safety glasses will stop that....

zero delay May 30th, 2005 21:34

It can only fire when tilted past 45 degrees, designed so that it cant be aimed at any ground targets and has to be tilted way past the horizontal axis before the firing circuits work. It was made for firing at a specialy created aerial target, and not as I stated, at any ground targets. The only way it could conceivable be able to fire at anyone or anything on the surface would be if it was fired from a deep depression, such as seriously deep canyon or a the bottom of a well ;) and neither of those terrain features exist where the game will be held.

Ghost Snake May 30th, 2005 21:52

and what if i'm standing on that hill? that looks like a pretty close call to me :)

gandar May 30th, 2005 22:03

Nice diagram. Are you sure the proportions are right though? lol I'm sure it'll all work out. If you're standing in the way of an ANZA round, you deserve to get hit lol

zero delay May 30th, 2005 22:39

The unit in the clips is a prototype, not equiped with that safety device, it was omitted because the core firing circuit was being tested, not the safety systems, much the same way engineers don't include the seatbelt warning light in a car frame destined for crash testing. The testing is done in phases. Any safety device can be overiden if a big enough dick head gets ahold of it.

Having said that If I catch/hear of anyone pointing that thing at any thing other than the aerial targets, they will be instantly ejected, regardless if they flew from Austrailia for the game.

I'm curious as to how much money is invested in this organisation? Sure wish there'd be something that big here in Quebec, although there probably isn't enought player mass to cover the expense. We got a lot of whiners who don't want to pay for a 50$+ 2day scenario game...

zero delay May 31st, 2005 01:23

You'll never escape "whiners" they permeate Airsoft and pretty much every aspect of human existance. They seem to love nothing more than critisizing and bitching about the most inane things, and I believe those people have impeded major progress for Airsoft in this country more than any other single factor, the legal staus of the game included.

Truth is there is no way to please those people, if progress in any field was subject to approval of every critic then you can pretty much guarentee very little would get done. As with any endevour actually taking the first steps is the most important part, if you know what your are doing eventually it will become blatantly obvious and you'll get the attention needed to get things rolling. The player base in Quebec may be small but I doubt it is as small as it is out here in Sask and Manitoba, your population is at least 3x as big as both provinces combined!!

As for cost I'd have to say although it is difficult to make a accurate estimate as the cost has be incured over the span of a few years, I'd have to say in excess of $15-$20K all done and said.

Lance (Zerodelay) puts up all the cash on his own for all this stuff he builds. He is trying to raise the bar for airsoft in Western Canada. Something that we have needed to do for a while now.

Sometimes when I make a thread about new pictures on our site, some people in Canada envy us, because we these places:
http://www.rhc-hardball.dk/hgt41.html
http://www.rhc-hardball.dk/rir7.html
http://www.rhc-hardball.dk/hem1.html
But this time, I Envy you guys, its very hard for us to get a forrest og something like that to play in and we would never get permission to use helicopters or this (whats its name??) ANZA thing for our games
I would love to come to Canada that weekend, but its the same weekend that I'm having a little garden party on the occasion of my 40 years birthday.

Have a very very nice day 8)

Gord (Frogman) May 31st, 2005 03:08

Man, I think I creamed my pants just now daydreaming what sorts of things we could do with a field like that here...

Those would be some pretty intense night games...

midgetspy May 31st, 2005 03:51

I'm a movie star! ;-P

Seems a bit odd that you put in a pic from WCAN Edmonton 2004 at the end, but whatever, cool anyway.

See you there :0)

lol, yeah. I ran into the airsoft habit of not taking enough action photo's, so I had to improvise there. Those guys are all heavily involved in the game though. Plus I really like that picture...

ValkXB70 May 31st, 2005 15:29

Awesome job on the video.
