Soviet Late War Ruski, Summer '44

Summer, Late Great Patriotic War (a bit portly for a Soviet conscript I know)

Getting ready for Red Orchestra 2? :) Great loadout. I am jealous.

EDIT: Is that canvas bag russian? I have one in my closet and I've been using it for my allied impression, if it's Russian I shouldn't be!

Looks like a US M1 Ammunition Bag.

SDrodge August 4th, 2011 19:40

Another home run for Beastor! Well done, sir.

Most defnitely not a US M1 ammunition bag, a Soviet gas mask satchel repro from Trident Military (where all the kit is from).

Easy enough mistake, they are similar in size and cut (although the soviet satchel is far simpler construction with a single button holding the flap down rather than the metal clasp on the M1)

Ahh I see!

Looks like a mix between the M1 bag and the Tommy bag too! :P

Great loadout as always!

Is the PPSH the Ares version or HP? I have the HP one and love it!

beastor August 7th, 2011 13:36

I wouldn't worry too much bud, there were many variations but the one I had was the most common!

Absolutely, I find myself making tweaks all the time on my kit (of any nationality) to get a comfy fit.

BootYourFace September 24th, 2011 17:17

I should have asked, where'd you pick up everything? Mostly all one place? Repo's?

nb.nagantsniper September 24th, 2011 18:37

made some, such as ppsh drum pouch, gymnasterka soldiers shirt, early war y strap for equipment belt, rifle and ppsh sling, made own helmet from fibre-glas, own back-pack (big sack with shoulder straps!!)

altered others items to work/look right.......leather waist belt, gas mask /haversack bag,

and what ever else that was beyond my boy-scout baDGE ABILITY, I found on ebay or at gunshows, or from other members as used. ( russian trousers, leggings , jackboots, poncho /plascha , wedge hat-pilotka )

thats my story and applies to my ww2 german gear as well.
