Sniper Rifle

I am looking in to buying a sniper rifle and I came across a used Maruzen APS Type 96 for $250, that supposedly is upgraded to the max. The FPS with .36 BBS is supposed to be around 515-530, but the gun can use .20 also. Also, the gun comes with a scope, bipod, and silencer, and a Bushrag Ghillie Suit Kit (Whats a Bushrag Ghillie Suit Kit?).
So what do you guys think of this sale?

Cortexburn June 25th, 2005 15:18

I'm pretty sure the fps is ok in your area, but always check with your local field/club/team before using the gun. But...honestly...the price.....sounds too good to be true. I'd only buy it if I were 100% sure of the authenticity of the package.

Is the package from a player leaving airsoft? Even given things are cheaper in the states.....250 for that package seems a bit too generous.

thegreengas June 25th, 2005 15:24

Oh I see. hey do you know what a Bushrag Ghillie Suit Kit is?

What else can we do for you today? Jebus.

FOX_111 June 25th, 2005 17:03

maybe tell him that he is better off buying a AEG...
Looking at his level of knowledge, maybe he is not ready for sniping yet.

Affliction June 25th, 2005 21:47

Correct me if I'm wrong--You need a FIREARMS license to possess an airgun capable of firing a projectile in excess of 500 FPS.

*Edit* After reading your post again, I'd say whoever is selling that 'package' for $250 is bullshitting you.

I can see that you're 15 years old. Maybe you should get a job to start making some money before you start Airsofting.

I'm only 17 and I have a G&P M4A1. It cost me $900 in total (With battery, shipping, MVR, BBs) which came from my own wallet. I, nor you are old enough to buy an airsoft gun so you should check with your parents first (my parents bought mine, they understand I am responsible so there is no issues).

If you want to get into airsofting, don't count on spending any less than $600 for the airsoft, batteries, ammo, and S&H.

Cortexburn June 25th, 2005 22:09

You do NOT require a firearms licence so you do stand corrected. He is in the states where.....the average age of airsoft ( in CA ) tends to be 14-17......

But...honestly thegreengas, stay away from sniper rifles until you've played abit as you will find what you have imagined in your head is not what it will be like on the field.

Affliction June 25th, 2005 22:13

Okay, my mistake.

I don't often look at the 'Location' field beneath the avatar. I assume everyone on these forums is in Canada as this is a Canadian site.

I don't really care what the average age is... I'm confident when I say that if you get an airsoft rifle, you should WORK for the money in order to buy it to gain a sense of a responsibility.

Quite frankly, I'm new to airsoft and I don't want to see this great sport getting banned because a few non-attentive parents buy an airsoft rifle for their child (who uses it inappropriately).

Cortexburn June 25th, 2005 22:26

Absolutely true, but.....on the flip side, you assume that he isn't paying for the gun himself and his parents are.

Affliction June 25th, 2005 22:31

Actually, I am assuming he has the $250 to pay for the 'package' that he speaks of.

I'm ASSUMING that he doesn't have $600+ to actually get into airsofting.

Anyone that wants to get into airsofting for a cheap price definitely has to think again.

alright, you dont know anything about airsoft in the U.S. Everything is cheaper there, and you know shit all about firearms licences and airsoft in another country, your telling a kid who can legally buy a gun that he should stay out of airsoft when you yourself own a big expencive gun that you shouldnt own.

I ASSUME you show off with it to your friends and shoot your dog and cat when they bite you.

shut up.

I have a job and I work for my money. I buy airsoft guns with my hard earned cash :kill:

Haha, while i would find it entertaining to shoot dogs... (just kidding)
And actually I wouldnt bother showing it off to my friends because they are alot more experienced than I am and have alot better equipment. I would only want the airsoft guns for real games.

Okay, I'm sure I know more about the US than you since I grew up in the US.

I don't know if you're illiterate or just plain stupid. I corrected myself when I said I thought he lived in Canada. Canada and the US have DIFFERENT firearm laws.

My airsoft rifle is kept in a drawer out of sight (beneath my socks).

I, unlike you, am actually thinking about the future of airsofting. I never told him NOT to go airsofting, I stated that he should think more carefully about it if he's not willing to spend more than $250 on it. I earned the money for my airsoft rifle and I really don't give fuck all what you think.

$250 US is a robbery on the price for the 'package' he described.

Basically what you just said: "He can buy a gun, let him. I think you shoot your pets with your rifle so he can do the same. Thats okay"

DeathSniper June 25th, 2005 23:09

I grew up in the US too...your point? And you might want to take a look around the people that play airsoft in the US...I have and although sometimes it doesn't impress me much, there's very little we can do.

And I don't think hiding your airsoft rifle under your sock drawer is the best place to put it :)

And here's another point - growing up somewhere doesn't mean fuck all about your knowledge of the law...plenty of people grow up here in Canada yet are unaware or fuzzy on plenty of laws...just a thought.

Cortexburn June 25th, 2005 23:24

and so....on the wise words of my fellow moderator.....I think we can all agree that the initial question was answered and the rest was.....not really needed.....and so this concludes this episode of who can piss farther in a thread.

Elvis has left the building.
