New to Airsoft, Buying Gas Pistol

Hey guys!

I am new to airsoft. My friend got me into this. I am considering to buy a gas pistol that will run on propane. Ive looked at all these guns and they all looked and felt good. Which gun would you recommend out of these to a person who is new to airsoft. The guns i can get are the KJW M9, KWC/KWA USP Compact, KWC/KWA 18C, 23F or 19. Remember, the gun *has* to run on propane.

Thanks.
Daniel

Neither. If your new to airsoft and actually want to start playing, your best bet is an aeg. Pistols tend to suck when just being used as your primary weapon. (unless of course your only going to pistol matches) If you like gas guns alot buy a gas sniper rifle but just an ordanary pistol won't cut it.

Ya listen to him if you want to really play the game. But if your going to sit and plink only, then get the KJW m9, since it has metal slide it would be great with propane. Read some reviews about it, and do a search. If you plan to get it, get verified and ask Grim Fandango (sp?), he does large orders of kj guns.

So no one thinks im trolling the threads...I'd recomend a full medal m9 beretta. Feel's just like the real thing, shoots hard, designed for propain so you dont have to worrie about the slide blowing off, and gives a pretty good kick from what I can remember.

Oh! and I had it for almost 7 months and never had one problem with it (no leakes, no jamming)

all in all it was a great little gun.

But I would still recomend a aeg. Also airsoft guns get really borring for plinking around. the seem fun at first but After about a week they just get borring and sit around.

ill prob buy a rifle later. Well my friend has these pistols and is going to sell me one for cheap. Their in like mint condition. I read about the m9 and people use propane with it. I think i might get that one.

i am just gonna be playing with my friends. They have a field.

when playing, does getting hit with a bb leave a welt? do you really need suits and stuff? (i know i need goggles)

GiordanoWC August 20th, 2005 00:15

your friends have a field?

like, a registered field out of view of the public in which no incidents with the OPP will happen and tarnish our great game?

Raw Deal August 20th, 2005 00:36

Sometimes we carry spoons to remove the bb's. Plinking cans is more fun and you dont have to worry about scars.-with crossman air guns.

danbob111 August 20th, 2005 09:08

well they dont really have a field, they own a piece of land away from the city

Greylocks August 20th, 2005 10:17

Do yourself, and all of us, a HUGE favor. Meet up ONLY at local games, on authorized fields.
At the same time, you'll learn more about airsoft than you could manage inreading this site for a month.
So go out to your nearest game/team and chat. Be smart.

Again, dont start with a handgun. It will cost a decent chunk of cash, then more costs for gas, and will be out-ranged by almost any rifle.

danbob111 August 20th, 2005 13:16

what would you guys suggest i start with? an electric rifle?

Droc August 20th, 2005 13:44

1st off
not many of the fields are "registered"....just commonly used. We highly recommend only using airsoft guns at airsoft fields. Using them on private property still isnt safe.

Get an electric rifle. They are better in all ways.
But some to a game and see for yourself

What about a privately-owned farm (owned by airsofters)? Got one of these. Perhaps pistolo was just his secondary, but wanted something cheaper than a 480$ AK from Tru at first?

Rumpel Felt August 20th, 2005 16:09

It is ok to start with a gas gun first......read my post here if you wish

Crap. plain and simple

some times you may find a Mauri gun but 99% of the time it's no name crap.

danbob111 August 20th, 2005 22:15

how about the range? gas pistols seem to shoot over 300 fps and aeg rifles about 280. Which shoots further?

Greylocks August 21st, 2005 10:17

How about you go to a game, see stuff for yourself when it's in use? Then you'll understand that we're not trying to tell you crap.

Until you go to a game, read the various information and FAQ posts before you ask more questions. Also, use the SEARCH option more often.

Danbob, i'd suggest finding a club in your city and just renting a gun and trying out the game.

Also, I've found if you ask too many questions on this site, you will get more replies about how you should read "FAQ" or how you should browse the boards for a day straight to find the one topic thats related to yours.

People on this board are way to damn...I can't think of a word.

Protective of their beloved game.

yanhchan January 4th, 2006 10:53

No one is telling you that you shouldn't airsoft what you are doing is ignoring all the things you don't want to hear...there's no such thing as cheap airsoft but there is softair...I've spent around 1200 on airsoft and I haven't even began to start attending games in Canada yet. Be prepared to throw down cash if you are thinking of starting. So yeah like the others said go to a meet and greet ask questions. Attend a game as an observer and learn. As for low cost AEGs/Gas pistols you can get age verified and buy used guns from the forum.

Good Luck.

Carvs January 4th, 2006 13:20

If you are looking into a gas pistol go for it. If you arent doing anything "big" right now, its all you need. I do agree with greylocks though. Go out to some games. I know I have a KJW M9, I love it. You can look at my review: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...0&page=1&pp=15 . It may help you. I dont plan on going to any games but for what you are using it for, I have heard many good things about the KJ M9, and since I have one I would reccommend it...

sam0182 January 4th, 2006 13:59

I think this guy stopped caring in August guys... ;)
