Oh well, that's fine for you, but some people like to re-enact. This thread is not about whether or not you would wear SS insignia and the reasons why, but about where to get reproduction gear. It's kinda like me explaining why I would never wear Czech badges, but I don't think anyone gives a shit.

BuSaPuNk October 12th, 2005 03:11

true that....just wearing it for a re-enactment game and not to insult anyone is fine....

Kingfisher October 12th, 2005 03:59

Just a nagging reminder, WWII gear and cheap are words not often found together. For those that are inclined to higher standards of authenticity one can note certain deficiencies in some of his gear.

An example that immediately shows up is in the German field gear. The bread bag has the leather pieces attached with a type of rivet when in reality they should be sewn on. Also the leather itself appears to garment weight which is rather soft and flexible rather than the much heavier leather which is used on military equipment.

Here are some links for comparison
His gear.
http://www.ww2militaria-kcs.com/ger_gear01.htm

A bread bag by 1944 militaria a highly respected supplier for reenactors.
http://www.1944militaria.com/heer_wa...s_breadbag.htm

careful analysis will show significant differences.

Just a reminder to keep your eyes open. Inauthentic on one, inauthentic on others?

losttourist October 12th, 2005 08:37

Wow great resource link for WW2 gear! I didnt know this stuff was readily available..love the uni sets he has and the web gear. sweet.

Flawless October 19th, 2005 19:49

so much more affordable than at the front! Nice find.

hansrohleder October 20th, 2005 13:12

You can also find some cheaper repos on E bay sometimes. Only problem is E bay aren't allowed to show swastikas or SS runes so you'll have to get insignia elsewhere.

tiger-unit October 20th, 2005 15:41

I just ordered a tunic from www.ww2militaria-kcs.com, the German M40 tunic set.

Flawless October 31st, 2005 18:33

This my be a stupid questions but how do i know what size i am with like these weared sizes ex: 40R 47R 58R . I wear XL for everything t-shirts and jackets. Im just really tall. 6,3

-Skeletor- October 31st, 2005 18:40

Those are chest and waist sizes.

If your worried about getting something that won't fit, just email them with all your sizes(waist, chest and height) and they should be able to hook you up with clothing that will fit.

Flawless October 31st, 2005 18:44

ok thanks

tiger-unit October 31st, 2005 19:04

hey flawless, im from New West too, how old are you, do you go to N-dub ? what kind of Uniform are you looking for, I just ordered an M40 Uniform set with heer insignia, aswell as jackboots and an M43 cap.

Flawless November 1st, 2005 01:27

im 19 and i did go to N dub. I graded 2004 just look up my name in the year book, Jeff Martin. and then Blake Ramsey we were both in Cadets with you man. Im wanting to get an American infantry set up. Like the 2nd Rangers or something I wear some stuff that looks like WWII stuff but im trying to buy the more real stuff. like a field jacket and some other gear. I just ordered some boot leggins I have an M1 Helmet and I have a thompson mag pouch. I have brownish pants and a Jacket that look like WWII stuff so Im just useing that for now.

Can you order insignia from that site?
Do you know if they sell any WWII stuff down on Whesly's on front street by the key?

Jeff

tiger-unit November 1st, 2005 17:22

Ohh ya, I remember you, are you just reenacting, or are you going to play airsoft at BCAC or OP-FOR ? Im geussing that you will get a Thompson, if so, there is one for sale at daves, just a heads up, later.

Flawless November 1st, 2005 20:22

I play airsoft man. I have a thompson with 3 low caps and one high cap mags. I just played this saturday for the mini milsim for Op For.

tiger-unit November 1st, 2005 23:42

oh sorry man, my bad, whats Blake doin these days, you should get his ass out, I wouldnt mind playin with you guys.

Flawless November 2nd, 2005 17:34

Yeah I showed Blake airsoft. He likes it alot. But He kinda got messed up. He moved out of his house with a friend and moved to Victoria. He doesn't have a phone or computer there so I never know when he comes back to visit, its just random. He also got into drugs and drug dealing and shit so hes kinda messed up right now. He says hes making alot of money but i think hes bullshiting because he allways asks me to borrow my springer pistol and I say you can go get one at dave's for 50 bucks. So I don't know.

tiger-unit November 2nd, 2005 18:41

ohhh shit, do you know anyone else around her that plays ?

Flawless November 3rd, 2005 00:44

Na man. Non of my other friends are interested, well they think it looks awesome and would be fun, but don't want to spend the money. Plus most of them I could see be doing stupid things with the airsoft. So yeah Its just me and I go out to Panther alone for games lol

T.Smith November 3rd, 2005 02:30

G'day, you've got a Kraut located in Kelowna if you ever need it ;) Just give me a PM if you are ever lookin' to get a game goin'.

tiger-unit November 3rd, 2005 20:13

T. Smith, I wish there was guys that liked German gear too, but theres knowone into world war 2 gear around the lower mainland, but me and Flawless.

-Skeletor- November 3rd, 2005 21:07

Don't worry about it, if you guys play in the WWII kit, you might get other people interested. For awhile I was the only incountry(vietnam airsoft) member playing in the lower mainland; now theres a few guys with vietnam impressions.

Flawless November 3rd, 2005 21:56

Yeah when I went to the mini milism this past saturday. Everyone loved the WWII gear. There were 4 new other guys and they loved the WWII gear and I wouldn't be suprised if there first airsoft gun is WWII. With the M1 Garand out im sure there will be more people into WWII soon enough.

Tiger- Have you finished collecting your German set up? Do you have a German gun?

T.Smith November 3rd, 2005 22:00

The thing is that there are not too many people willin' to fork out the extra cash to get these impressions. Another issue is obviously the weapons. I would love to see some good quality German weapons availble at a reasonable price, but at the same time, I like sayin' that I'm the only one in the Interior with a Airsoft Kar98, an' soon I will be able to say I'm the only one with a MG42. ;)

tiger-unit November 4th, 2005 01:07

Ya, I havent seen ONE person with a ww2 German setup around here, so I will wear it to the field, and if people get interested, then thats awesome, I think all there used to is the new shit(which is awesome), but when they think of WW2 gear, they think of how pricy it is, but really, its not even that expensive (reproduction), and it looks awesome, its quite the change from just the regular woodlands, so if anyone else is interested in WW2 gear, I would be happy to give out some aweosme sites with both German and US gear, we need more WW2 airsofters out there.

Flawless - My M43 cap should arrive in the next few days, and my boots my jackboots in around a week, then my tunic and trousers once the guy receives my money order in under a week, so its slowly coming together...and for the gun, (I know its not german) but like I said its the closest thing to a G43, im gonna get a wood stock M14 and most likely put a scope on it, then I gotta get Y straps, a belt and buckle, and mag pouches, maybe G43 ones, if they fit, i think im gonna have a problem with pouches, but we'll see, and I will be sure to get pics up of my Uniform once it arrives.

-MikeL- Are you DNA ?

T.Smith November 4th, 2005 01:11

I s'pose it is all in what you want to sacrifice. I've always been one for the best. So far I have spent about 1000 USD easily on my gear an' I have yet to get my A-frame, Zelt, Assualtbag, Rucksack, an' Jackboots (Ain't they a beaut? http://www.richardaunderwood.com/images/DSC00879.jpg http://www.richardaunderwood.com/images/DSC00876.jpg)

Flawless November 4th, 2005 02:36

Awesome guys. It would be so nuts to play a WWII game. and see Germans runing across the field. That would feel so weird to see that. Yeah man money orders are what I've always used but not that I got my student credit card I've been able to not worry about going to the bank and making a money order.:P
Man if a nice Mp40 comes out, and a BAR then i could see more people playing.

If I were you, I'd keep the SR-16 that you said you already had. Just think of all the cool things you could make for it at your machine shop.

T.Smith November 7th, 2005 19:48

Depends on the look your goin' for...the Thompson is a nice gun though.

I'd stick with the SR-16 if you don't plan on goin' World Was 2 though. It makes more sense.

Buddy holly November 7th, 2005 22:16

Sorry about that one memel its my friend Andy who has the sr-16 its been at my house for a long long time and I always use it but I am thinking about getting my own cuz he is moving to B.C along with the gun :( also to correct you its not my shop its also Andy’s dads its called horizon you can look it up if you wish but yeah you can make some good things in there for guns

yeah man I have always loved the ww2 gear and everything
thanks

Flawless November 8th, 2005 00:19

Well man go with what your heart is telling you. I personly am very happy I chose the thompson as my first gun. When I try out someones m4 or m16 it feels like plastic and light. The Tommy is very solid and heavy. Make sure your strong enough to sholder that this gun for a long peariod of time because it starts to get heavy. But its a nice work out;) I think its only a pound or two off the real wait of the real one. It has a nice HOP UP in it that allows you the change it on the fly without removing your mag.

Only thing not many upgrades. Maybe you can make it into a Tommy gun if you wanted. I like that its all metal except the reciver and everythings very nice and tight. No sqeeks. The woods looks real and feels real but its not real. The large battery fights nice and snug in the butt of the gun. Its just a great starter gun.

If you love WWII and are a fanatic like me and want to start collecting gear. The Thompson is a great excuse to start.

BTW: Where are you moving to in BC?

Buddy holly November 8th, 2005 18:55

yo i am kinda friends with buddy holly well... i have only biked with him but what i do know is that he might be moving to nonomal or w/e i kinda wana move there with him lol cuz he is emensipated however you spell it

Annyyywaaayys... I recieved the German M43 cap a few days ago, they fucked up and gave me a size too small, it fits, but I wanted it a bit bigger for winter time when I wear the toque under it http://www.monkeydepot.com/Merchant/d1599.JPG

i'll let ya know when I get the rest, then i'll get some pics up.

Flawless November 8th, 2005 23:00

awesome man. To bad they got it to small. I ordered Replica WWII US M-41ARMY JACKET And I got my boot leggins in the mail yesterday. I painted a decal on my helmet aswell. this one. http://www.toppots.net/FM%202RANG.jpg

I don't think you will need to wear toque under your M43. Under helmet more likely. I played in winter (around -8 ) in my M43 and it was warm enough. It's wool after all. Unless you planning to go and play in colder weather, then it different story.

T.Smith November 9th, 2005 00:01

When we spend the night out in the trench, I wear anythin' I can get my hands on. Usually I am in a mantel, have a scarf, gloves, toque an' my einheitsfeldmutze, an' I still am freezin'.

tiger-unit November 9th, 2005 00:57

alriight, the hat is still kinda tight though, they sent me a size too small.

Flawless November 9th, 2005 21:34

can you tell them to send you the right size and return it?

Also, the flaps come down and cover the ears and cheeks. Nifty.

tiger-unit November 9th, 2005 23:28

Ya flawless, the place I ordered from is awesome http://www.sportsmansguide.com , they will let you return anything if it doesnt fit, or if your not happy with it, also, not many people know this, but they sell WW2 German uniforms, that this other store http://www.atthefront.com sells for alot cheaper, and there the exact same uniforms by Sturm.

Thanks for the info memel, I still need to get that toque to wear under my helmet.

T.Smith November 10th, 2005 00:19

Ah, Sportsmansguide carries the STURM tunics, which, for the most part, are correct as your goin' to get at that price range. Good stuff. If you have the money, an' want alost perfection, go with lostbattalions.com. They have pricey stuff, but boy is it worth it.

If you want a good quality helmet, get ahold of germanhelmetsinc.com <--Pure awesome work. I picked up a M-40 from them. Original shell, perfect paintjob

tiger-unit November 10th, 2005 01:43

hmm, I dunno man, that helmet site is kinda pricy, who sells the Cheapest repro helmets, that still look correct ?

[Lithium] November 10th, 2005 03:00

if u live any near surrey/vancouver, the urban military has god deals on lots of stuff... helmets i think were cheap too.

www.urban-military.com

T.Smith November 10th, 2005 14:05

Hmm, I've never went with a repro, mainly because my unit doesn't allow them. You will have better luck lookin' through the World War 2 resource page I posted.

tiger-unit November 10th, 2005 21:57

Lithium... They have german helmets..the WW2 ones ?? Are they located in Surrey just a little bit after the bridge ?

hansrohleder November 17th, 2005 20:47

I got a repo from lostbattalions for $200. I see a lot of "orginal" german shells with repo liners for around the same $200 mark. Though it depends on size, larger being more expensive.

For wool hats I find you can always make them bigger by just pulling on it a bit.

T.Smith November 17th, 2005 20:50

Yup, original shells an' repro liners.

As for the hat thing, it isn't ment to fit on your head....it is ment to fit slightly slanted on your head. 1 finger above your right ear, an' about 3 fingers on your left ear. Make sure to have your hair cut appropriately as to not look like a FARBy hippy skater German from the future.

tiger-unit November 17th, 2005 21:00

hah, alright Smith, my hairs kind of short anyways.

Pvt. Ivan November 20th, 2005 06:18

Kameraden, I need a word of advice, I want to get M40 tunic and trousers. where should I get it? I'm looking for quality rather than price. also I need some BeVo waffen insignia for feldmutze. Oh yeah, I found pretty good tutorial on helmet restoration, but it's in russian. Well it's not a problem for me, but if anybody interested, I can try to translate it.

T.Smith November 20th, 2005 13:16

Pvt. Ivan

If Quality is what you seak, here are my two highly recommended sites:

www.lostbattalions.com
www.1944militaria.com

Both are extremely accurate and have very high wool quality. The service from LB is also very good an' shipping takes about a month. 1944's products are high end but their shipping and customer service can 'sometimes' be troublesome.

stalkingvengeance February 3rd, 2006 02:43

In my WW2 collection of clothes...I Only have a ww2 pattern German greatcoat(made in '52 but it looks the same)
Whenever it is i get a job ill be gettin myself a good uniform....but then again i guess i need a gun first :P

Krieg February 3rd, 2006 21:17

Anyone know of a place in the lower mainland (I am in Port Coquitlam) that has a german repro/original gas mask container for a resonably price?

T.Smith February 3rd, 2006 23:24

Unless you get lucky...your goin' to have to order online. 1944militaria.com, landser.com an' many other fine retailers stock a empty gas mask canister at a resonable price.

Krieg February 19th, 2006 14:06

Hi All!

I would need feddback on this website.

www.grigsbymilitaria.com

Is he reliable?
Has anyone purchased anything from him?

I just need to make sure that I don't throw my money out the window.

I'd appreciate the replies!

Thanx
Mr.Ptrap

T.Smith February 19th, 2006 14:16

He is very reliable and sells top notch stuff, but the only issue is it takes him 1-2 months to send out your orders. Unfortunate really, sometimes it is worth the wait though

Krieg February 20th, 2006 19:41

I ordered from ww2militaria-kcs german uniform and helmet.

My question is this.
What is the customs at the border due with this shipment?
Do i have to pay something? Will they search it?
Well they can search it since there is only uniform in it.

But still I wonder wheter there are some twisty suprises ahead of me.

(oh yea I tried to search, but to no avail)

T.Smith February 20th, 2006 19:44

Yes, there will be a s'prise, but it depends on the value, an' how well the retailer likes Canadians. Some retailers outside our borders will lie about the value of their packages, and you will not be charged as much on it as you would expect. Others tell the truth.

Expect about 14%, depending on your province and federal taxes, plus about 10% on uniformed items. It depends on the items being shipped too, clothing differs from footwear, gear and all the rest.

You have to pay for it before they give you the package.

Krieg February 20th, 2006 21:19

BAAAAHHHHH! I knew it!

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

tiger-unit February 21st, 2006 02:09

Ptrap, why did you order from him in Asia? when you can buy the EXACT SAME uniform set from this guy for almost the same price www.captzak.com

This guy also carries the EXACT same helmet, and he is located in Canada
www.militarytour.com

Think on the brightside though, your getting an awesome uniform.

Krieg February 21st, 2006 18:07

I ordered from Asia because on the camo set I figured i save 110$

On the uniform 25$

On the helmet 50$

Oberst39 February 23rd, 2006 22:23

They may or may not open the item. Usually the cost of the items will determine whether or not you have to pay duty on it. If you have to pay duty, they will send you an invoice for the amount and you just pay. Sometimes it can take a couple of weeks after you get your item before you actually get a customs invoice for duty. I have purchase quite a bit from the states and overseas and have not been charged any duty at all. Usually the shipper will put on the shipping bill that it is a gift. If they do that you will not have to pay any duty.

Krieg February 24th, 2006 16:30

Thank you for your input Herr Oberst! :salute:
